"Did Harry Styles propose to his current girlfriend Tessa Smith this weekend? Sources tell us the two were seen going for a stroll in the romantic city of Paris when Styles got down on his knee and popped the question. Do-"

I grabbed the remote control from the table in the living room and turned off the TV, frustrated. I rolled my eyes as I returned to the kitchen, where George and I were colouring. George was colouring a picture of a giraffe, while I coloured a dog.

"Are you excited to be four years old?" I asked the boy, smiling. He eagerly nodded his head, grinning from ear to ear.

It was two weeks until my son's fourth birthday, and it was a day I'd been planning for almost a whole year. I had saved up money since he was a little newborn, so that one day when he was old enough, I would be able to afford bringing him to Disneyland.

Of course, George didn't know yet. I decided I wouldn't tell him until the day before his birthday, which was the day we were departing London. I knew that if I told him anytime earlier, I'd be listening to his complaints about waiting for weeks.

"What do you say about taking a little trip to the library today?" I said, standing up from my chair to start making dinner. I watched as George started grinning.

He loved the library, surprisingly. I started taking him there when he was two years old, because it was a quiet place where I could focus on my online classes while George could look in picture books.

"What are you making?" asked George.

"Chicken," I replied. He nodded and began colouring again.

Thirty minutes later, dinner was ready and we sat down to eat. George began talking about his new favourite tv show, and didn't stop until we were both done eating.

"If you go and get your shoes, I can help you put them on, alright?" I said as I began cleaning up.

"Okay, Mummy." replied George and ran off. He returned a minute later, holding one shoe in each hand. He then climbed up on a chair and waited for me to come and help him.

When the dishwasher was loaded, I walked over to George and helped him with his shoes. While I was doing so, he played with a thin strand of my red hair.

"Go and put your jacket on." I said after his shoes were on and the laces were tied. He nodded before running off again, with me following right behind to put on my own shoes and my own jacket.

George held my hand as we walked down the street on our way to the library. He was still talking about a TV show, but not the one he spoke about during dinner.

We entered the library fifteen minutes later. I escorted George to the kids section before I went and found a place to sit down and write my essay. I knew I could trust George to be by himself for a little while, he had never had any trouble with it before. I always went back and found sitting on a chair, quietly looking through a picture book.

I took my MacBook Air out of my backpack I'd brought with me and started writing. My essay was a book report for my literature class, as I was studying to become an English teacher.

Getting set to write took forever. There was constantly other thoughts taking over my mind, especially the thought of what I'd heard on the TV earlier. Was Harry really getting married? I mean, I knew he had a girlfriend, but I didn't think it was that serious. And what if he got her pregnant? Would he stay for her? Or would he a big asshole like he was to me, and leave her?

I forced myself to stop thinking about it and went back to writing. The thought of Harry getting married kept occupying my head, but I shook it away every time, hoping I would forget about it soon enough.

After thirty minutes, I decided to take a short break and go and check on George. I walked over to the kids section and saw him viewing photos in a picture book, as always. I smiled as I walked over to him.

"What are you looking at?" I asked the boy, crouching down beside him.

"A bee," he replied, pointing at the picture of a bee. "And an elephant." he turned a page so I could see the elephant, too.

"So, it's an animal book, then?" I said and he nodded.

I stayed with him for a few more minutes before going back to my spot. I sat down, put the Mac in my lap and continued writing. Doing so was still a bit of a challenge, as my mind refused to let go of the thought of Harry getting married. As much as I hated to admit it to myself, I hated the idea of it. It just made me so angry how he was getting married, and yet he refused to be a part of his son's life.

It took me a whole lot longer than planned, but I eventually managed to finish half of my essay, which was my goal for the day. I turned off the Mac, put it in my backpack and started walking back to the kids section.

But before I could see my son, I heard his laugh. I smiled to myself as I rounded a corner and saw his beautiful grin. However, I had expected him to be laughing at something he saw in one of the books. He wasn't.

Beside him sat a man. The man was holding a children's book, reading it for George.

"Mummy!" exclaimed George when he saw me standing by the bookshelf. I smiled at him at the same time as the man beside him looked up. I immediately felt sick; like I was going to throw up at any moment.

"Come on, we're going home." I said to the little boy, holding out my hand. George jumped down from the chair and walked over to me, grabbing the hand.

"Bye." said George, waving at the man who had read for him. He gave him a small smile and waved back.

Quickly, I exited the library, dragging George with me, just slow enough for him to keep up with his little legs. I wanted to get away from there as soon as possible, without George realizing something was wrong. But, that was when-
