i can't believe that i never noticed this. here's my theory.
so we all know that celeana was inspired by the cinderella story. but i think that elide is snow white.
lorcan mentions how white her skin is and how her hair is black like a starless night (the quotes are somewhere in empire of storms). that's pretty much snow white right there.
but then there's the evil queen (vernon?) who tries to hide/hurt her.
and lorcan is like the huntsman. he's in love with maeve, but then falls in love with elide and betrays maeve because of it.
and that makes the circus group that they fall in with to be the seven dwarves? it's a bit rough, but elide really reminds me of snow white.
