Gray: "I know, right? Hard to believe we survived high school without committing murder along the way."

Lena: laughing "True. But technically, it's just the two of us right now because our third musketeer is still missing."
Gray: "You know him. Ethan's probably knee-deep in pancakes or whatever food drama he's into today."
Lena: rolling her eyes "Yeah, sure, but seriously, where is he? It's the first day of senior year—he can't be late for this!"

Gray: "Come on, let's head to class. He'll show up eventually."
Lena: "Nope. We always walk in together. I'm not starting senior year without him."
Gray: shrugging "Your call, but don't blame me when you're late."
(Gray heads into class, leaving Lena standing outside, waiting for Ethan. Fifteen minutes pass, and still no sign of him.)
Lena's POV -Thoughts- Where the hell is Ethan? This isn't like him. Did something happen? Ugh, I'm already late because of him. Guess I'll have to go alone.
(As Lena walks towards her class, she spots the school's infamous bad boy, Zayne Monroe, bullying a kid near the lockers.)
-Thoughts- Great. Just great. Zayne's already starting his usual nonsense. Can this day get any worse?
Lena: "Seriously, Monroe? Don't you have anything better to do than terrorize people on the first day?"
Zayne: grinning "Actually, I do. But it'd be a lot more fun with you around, Lena. What do you say?" winking
