Instantly I say, " practice makes perfect "?
He chuckles. " No. Well- yes that too. I'm talking about what you perceive your destiny to be. What happened to the little girl that said she could be whatever she wanted? "
" I was five, Freddie. I'm ten now and I feel new pressure from every angle to be something I'm not. " I say not wanting to talk about this anymore.
We're supposed to be having fun, not talking about my potential to fail.
" That's what I'm telling you, silly girl. Be yourself always. Be bold. See? " He asks showing me his bracelet. " I wear this every day to remind myself. "
Of course, he's bold, it's his middle name. " It's not that easy... "
" Look. " He says taking the bracelet off and clamping it around my wrist. " I want you to wear this. Whenever you look down on it, think of what I told you. Being true to yourself is going to get you farther than what they want to turn you into. Fuck them. Don't let them put you into a box. "
Leave it to Freddie to always be the voice of reason in my life. I love his gift. It's not too heavy on my arm and it's open on one end with two balled points on either side.
" Thank you. I'm never going to take it off. " I promise him.
He clears his throat and holds his hand out for me to take. " Right. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, ready to practice? "
I take it and we both sit at the piano. After five years of doing this over the phone, I can't wait to have my lesson in person.

After my lesson, Freddie takes me to Marienplatz. It's so big with so many things to see!
I've never been anywhere that I didn't need a bodyguard around for. The fact that we walked in the street and no one went crazy was so rad! I took so many pictures it isn't even funny.
