Asha Maria POV

I felt the weight of my body fall, the cold air filled with colder rain drops landing on me in my wolf form. I saw black dots, first a few, then hundreds, thousands, until all I saw was black. It seemed that the darkness like to consume me a lot.

I couldn't feel anything. The only thing I felt was my body submerging in cold water. Everything was cold, and everything was black. I couldn't breathe anymore. My lungs now felt cold...

What's happening to me?

My body felt like it was drifting, like it was floating on a current. My head ached, my leg stung from the bullet graze, my heart beat slowed.

Is this the process of dying?

I was scared to answer my own question, but I think I was dying. Before the darkness submerged me like it always did, several parts of my body ached, like it slammed into something. Perhaps while falling, my body hit rocks, and I was in shock to realize it happened then. Now, the aching felt worse. I could feel my heart beat slow even more, if that was possible.

Scaring me nearly to death, I felt something grab me. If I was dying, how could I still having my senses in this condition? The only sense I had was the sense of touch, though I could not physically move to touch my surroundings. The hand sent tingles where it grabbed me. Wait, was it one of the people who locked me up? I panicked, trying to wake up. I couldn't, I couldn't wake up and keep running. They were going to kill me, I just know it.

Suddenly, my body felt like it was being dragged, while still in the water. The hand that grabbed me pulled my body closer to them, my spine now against their chest with their arm wrapped under my front wolf legs. I felt tingles around my body wherever they met this... mystery person's body.

I was panicking more, what did this mean? Why do I feel this?

I was overwhelming myself, my head trying to think how this was possible.

Now, I couldn't feel anything around me. I had completely gone unconscious.

Lucas POV

I sat in a chair outside the hospital room she was in, panicking about her state. Though she was still in her wolf form, I could tell she had scars, cuts, and bruises. But what surprised me the most was the grazed gun shot on her leg. There was strain on her leg the doctor had told me, and he said that she was running on it for a while, maybe.

I don't know what happened to her, who she is, where she came from, or how she ended up in this state. All I wanted to know was that she was okay.

I rested my arms on my legs and let my head collapse into my hands, my right leg bouncing with nervousness, worry, anxiety, and panic.

What will happen to mate?

'I don't know, Cole...'

Will she be okay?

'I don't know...'

After I set her down in the bed, the doctor immediately pushed me out, where James gave me a pair of pants to put on seeing as I was wearing soaked boxers. I've been sitting in the chair outside her room since then, which happened over three hours ago.

Aside from the quickly paced tapping of my foot and an occasional voice from in her room, it's been quiet. I couldn't help but worry about this mysterious girl. Of course I couldn't help it, she was my mate. The Moon Goddess put us together for a reason, and the mates bond made me worried for her. I realized I knew nothing aside from the fact that her scars showed signs of abuse and a gun shot wound from being hunted.

It hurts just thinking about my mate being abused. Cole let out a whimper when I thought about that. I felt anger and the need to avenge her, even though she had not died. I hope.

I calmed myself down and heard footsteps from inside the room. These footsteps weren't from walking from one side of her to the other, but they walked closer to the door. I heard a hand rest on the door handle, which I immediately stood up to find Winston, one of the pack doctors, standing in the doorway.

"Winston, how is she?" I couldn't help but ask a little to aggressively, which startled Winston a bit, "eh, sorry. How is she?" I asked in a more calm manner.

"She's in stable condition, right now, she is still unconscious though."

I let out a breathe I didn't realize I was holding. I let my head drop, my eyes now meeting the ground with my hands on the back of my neck.

"Before you go in, I would like to discuss her condition in more detail. Do you wish to hear now?"

"Yes."

"Very well, though I do ask to control your emotions and not overreact, though that may be hard."

"Yes, just get on with it." I said, getting a little agitated.

"Er, right. Right now, she's still in her wolf form and won't be able to shift back until she wakes up. It was harder to find all her visible wounds, but we do believe she has more injuries. We had to manually patch up her bullet wound, due to the silver, but aside from that she is self healing slower than a normal werewolf should. She looks to be around 15 or 16. We can't confirm since her wolf seems smaller than the average size of a wolf. It's possible that she could be older since it looks like her growing process seemed to be slowed from lack of nutrition. Her body weight is definitely below average, and her bones are weaker than most. I'm amazed at how she survived."

I let out a growl when he said that, but stopped myself shortly after.

"How about you go and sit in her room for a while. I'll tell you the rest later."

"Thanks, Winston."

He bowed his head and walked away, allowing me to go into her room. I walked in and shut the door behind me, looking at the unconscious, midnight black fur of her wolf. She was facing towards the window that shows the training field, which had a few people running laps. I walked around the room so I could sit on the chair that was on the side she was facing. I sat down and looked at her wolf head, now seeing she had a crystal-like, white diamond between her eyes. It made an amazing contrast against her pure black coat of fur. She looked beautiful, and that was just her wolf. I can't imagine what she would look like as a human.

I sat there admiring her, when before I realized it, my head was resting on the bed next to her front paws. I hadn't realized how tired I was until now. My eyes studied the features of her paw before sleep completely took over.

I hope she wakes up.
