The devil, the enemy, the darkness takes away this sense of purpose. A sense of why you are here what's the whole Point. He's trying to force these thoughts these ideas these DOUBTS that you don't matter that what you stand for dosnt matter, that you don't have anything to stand for, that God is just another misconception the world is trying to hammer into you. And you see, the devil gets to you the most easily when you allow him in. think about that. Very often we do it unconsciously, we are just absorbed and melted and we seep into the world around us. We forget what the world around us really can be. It can be light, or well it could be darkness. (Yes I do understand that is a very black and white statement, just hang in there) But it's all a question of how to detect the difference. Romeo (my youth pastor that I will never forget) talked about our outer ears and inner ears (metaphorically of course). I like to think of it as the little angel and devil on your shoulders. The thing you really commit and invest your life to more is going to be the side that sucks you in, takes you with it. What you feed your eyes to (whether it is physically or mentally), is what you are feeding your soul to, in which will ALTER YOUR HEART, altering what will come out of your heart, such as your actions, thoughts, accusations, assumptions, and just daily lifestyle. Yet of course no matter how engaged you are into your faith in Christ, the devil always plans this master plan to appear as if he were a Christ-like thing. This is when we need to detect the difference. Look deeper into it. If we really have practiced using our inner ears, (our spiritual ears, the ones that hear and chase the voice of Christ) we will hear the voice of the Lord showing us the way.
