But Naomi still couldn't see very good, so she crept a little closer, towards a long line of computer desks and hid under them as if she was in stealth mode. Then, like a spy, she peeked over the long desk and saw what appeared to be a middle aged woman and her husband talking with the young librarian. Her eyes widened with fear, the two couple at the front were her own parents!
What're they doing here? She thought frantically. Her mother was constantly dabbing at her eyes with a tissue and her father looked really sad. But of course they were faking....Or were they?
Just yesterday they were acting so cruel towards her. Her mother was abusing her, and her father just sat there and watched with a smile. Obviously they were aware of her running away and disappearing. Knowing them they couldn't have cared less, but then why were they acting so upset?
Most likely they wanted to look like good people, and pretend to care that their only daughter was missing.
Naomi watched as her mother handed the librarian a few stacks of paper, who in return gave her sympathetic looks and comforted her. They must've known this was her favorite place to hang out, or it could be a coincidence.
Just then, her father looked her way just as she was still peeking at them behind the row of desks. Naomi gasped and jerked back under the desks. She heard footsteps coming her way and acted quickly, crawling forward and back into the closed space she was in before; remaining unseen as her father peered under the desks.
He saw me! She thought frantically, pulling on her ponytails as she mentally panicked.
What is taking her so long? Ayaka thought impatiently as she waited outside the bathroom door for her sister. She began to lose all her patience and walked into the bathroom, only to find Nana's head in the sink getting soaked under the running water.
"Nana!" Ayaka gasped, darting over to her and quickly lifting her head out of the sink. Nana's hair was soaking wet and her eyes were closed. Ayaka violently shook her younger sister. "Nana wake up!" She screamed.
Nana forced her eyes open and stared at the panicked expression on her sister's face before groggily rubbing her eyes and bursting into a coughing fit as water dribbled out of her nose. Ayaka roughly patted her sister's back and held her tight. "Come on." She said. "Once we get back into the library you'll be able to take a nap, okay?" She pulled her out of the bathroom, she had no idea she was this tired!
"Come to think of it, we hadn't had much sleep for the past several hours..." Ayaka replied as they emerged from the hall and into the front of the library.
Naomi was hit with a wave of fear as her father quietly called her name, just enough for her to hear. She didn't want to go back with them, she wanted to stay with Nana and Ayaka. She would surely be sent to a foster home if she told anyone she was getting abused, which she obviously did not want to have to happen to her.
Naomi heard the footsteps getting closer and closer, and just as her father appeared, she darted the other way.
"Naomi!" He boomed, and she heard the loud pounding of footsteps following her as she made a run for it.
Ayaka looked up, alarmed, as Nana sat at a round table and laid her head down; slowly falling asleep. "Did you hear that, Nana?" She momentarily asked, listening in. Nana only muttered something about blueberries as she snored lightly.
"Naomi?!" She heard a woman yell at the front. Her and the librarian looked in the direction of the elevator, which a girl ran into and frantically pressed the buttons inside it as the elevator's doors quickly shut. "Where's Naomi?" The same woman asked, running up to a man who had been chasing her. The librarian followed her, and soon everyone in the library was listening in on their conversation.
