Gosh I really hate school. I thought as I drove to my boyfriend, Riley McDonough’s house. It’s 6 o’clock in the evening. Why was I forced to stay at school so late?! Riley was home three hours ago. I wish I went to his school still. But nooo, my dumb old family had to move and take me away from everything and everyone I love. Well… I guess the McDonough’s are really the only ones I love so I guess… wait… nope… that still makes them everyone I love. Joan, Mrs. McDonough is the sweetest lady ever. And Mr. McDonough is pretty funny. Connor is like, no, not is like, is, yeah Connor is my best friend.

Connor had helped me through everything… he’s the one who set me up with Riley too. I told him I liked Riley and he helped us get our relationship started. And Toby, little Toby… Well, Toby is fourteen so I guess he isn’t that little but he’s still the youngest so he’s little to me. He’s like my little brother. Plus he is just the cutest kid you will ever see in your entire life. The McDonough’s are like my second family… or a better first family. I reached up and turned on the radio. It takes about an hour to get to Riley’s house from here so I might as well listen to some music while I’m at it…

When I get there all I want to do is lie down on the couch wrapped on in Riley’s arms and watch a movie. After a long, painful, terrible, annoying week at school, it would be nice to do that. I don’t even care what movie this time… as long as I am laying there watching it with Riley. I love him so much… I want to tell him that too, so I don’t lose him. I’m just afraid to tell him. Last time I told a guy I loved him, he said he didn’t feel the same way and dumped me. It really sucks to be a girl sometimes… we have so many emotions and everything like that. Ugh.

I finally pulled into the drive way at the McDonough’s house at 7:30pm. I grabbed my jacket and phone and got out of the car. I put my phone and keys in my pocket and went up and knocked on the door. “Courtney!” Riley cried opening the door. “I’ve missed you so much” He said. “I missed you too” I said quietly. “Is something wrong?” Riley asked. I walked inside and he shut the door behind me. I dropped my jacket on the chair and threw my keys and phone down on top of them. “I’ve just had a long week” I said. “And not being with you has made things so hard” Riley pulled me in for a hug. “It’ll be okay” He said. “I promise” Riley kissed me softly.

“Where’s everyone else?” I asked. “Mom and date when out for date night and Connor and Toby are with their girlfriends” Riley said. “Wait what? When did Connor and Toby get a girlfriend?” I asked. Riley laughed. “I’m just kidding. Mom and dad are on a date night but Connor took Toby out to the movies. They’re both still single as anyone can be” I laughed. “You always know how to make me feel better” I said smiling. “Well that’s what I’ve got to do for my girl” Riley said smiling. “And if you think I’m the best now, wait until you see this” Riley said grabbing my hand. “Riley, I don’t wanna go anywhere. I just want to watch a movie and stay wrapped up in your arms” I said. “Oh but Court, you’re going to love this! Trust me” I sighed. “Fine, where are we going?” I asked. “The kitchen” Riley said.

“The kitchen?” I asked. Riley nodded and took me to the kitchen. “Riley!” I cried. “Did you do this just for me?” Riley smiled and nodded. Riley had set up the kitchen table into a beautiful candle lit dinner. There were rose petals spread out over the table and there were three candles lighting up the room. Riley had made spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. “Riley, you are amazing” I said kissing his cheek. Riley smiled. “I know” I hit his arm and he pulled out my chair. We sat down and ate dinner. “This was really good” I said finishing the last bit of pasta that was on my plate. “It’s the best thing that I have had in a while” Riley beamed. “Well, I didn’t think it was that good but thank you” I laughed.

Riley stood up and turned on the radio. Soft, slow music started playing. “May I have this dance?” Riley asked holding out his hand. I smiled and stood up and took his hand. “Yes you may” I said. Riley put his arms around my waist and I rested mine on his neck. “Courtney” he said. “I need to tell you something” My heart started beating fast. This is it… I thought. He did all of this to soften the blow whenever he breaks up with me. “These past months have been amazing” Riley said. I smiled and tried not to cry. “I just wanted to let you know that I have never cared about anyone as much as I care about you and I just wanted to say… I love you” I smiled and hugged Riley tightly. “I love you too” I said. Riley smiled and kissed me softly. This was so much better than a movie. I thought.
