"If it is our end, Aba..

are we not men of Bathala?

we have to see the Babaylan, and seek the Songs. said Laang.

"I had come to ask the witch

and of the Songs of the Diwatas

she had dreamt of none but the Bakunawa."

Laang thought of this as absurd.

It is known by the will of the old gods and the new, that their talented babes the seers and the witches know most of things and what is to come. For this, they the peoples had always presented themselves to them with utmost adoration. Bringing them gifts such as porkstew and milk of the kid. But all his young life as the lord, he had only known one of them. The witch Khu Khu Lam .

And as he is taught and painfully told so, the Babaylan is an all -knowing vessel, blessed by Bathala and had them feed on this divine nourishment.

And so having heard of this from his father the Datu, it troubled his gleeful heart. The village had always awaited for the teachings of Khu Khu Lam and the answers of what they did not know of.The witch had always known as their gods knew, this was the way and all  it is to be. Painfully.

"Laang...

we are men of the God Bathala

pray for our salvation and only stand fast

this has always been true for the ancients

and so it is true for us, love this divine way."

Laang eternally had a kept dislike of the ancient ways, bringing about confusion in his young, rebellious soul. It was not easy for him to understand. And not now. The ways, as permitted by his father the Datu and formed by the mountain witch in a wood engraving, is as suffocating as a monsoon fever. Only, he found himself forever yielding to the ways.

   "The ancients Aba..

had a grip on their knives...

and had a thrust as the gods permits,

but had hearts weary and dying....

....The ways as the gods permits!

this is what the witch's say

from words as divine as Bathala

But is as wrong as a lowly thief!"cried Laang

"Halt! and hear what you speak!

                        for the gods may hear!

If you are not to honour the ways,

                        then honour me your father

                         whom through  Bathala

                          you live!

                          The ancients had known

                           and we shall also..

remember what had made you into flesh

                           and soul and and blade!

You are but young to understand

                           But know only this! Laang

Love the ancient way, and be at peace!

Pray for your salvation and standfast!

     Kill only what feeds you

Kill only who dishonours you, and

Seek none of what your ignorance beseeches."

Laang had known and will know forever. This is what his father the Datu whispered in his soul.

This is all there is to know and nothing more.

For the gods dine only with the gods. As they mate only with gods alike.

There is only, for men like him Datu Sari ang Daga ..to be is

 to remember the ways..
