51 》 hours and hours

Start from the beginning

I leaped over to the bed and stretched the wire out.

It wasn't long enough,

"Crap- um.." I breathed out through a shaky breath.

He was gasping for air, like his airway was blocked.

I dropped the mask to the ground and ran back over to Colby.

I wrapped both of my hands around his foot and pulled him across the red stained floor.

My knees gave out and I fell the ground.

I caught my breath and tried to move him again but it was no use.

Where the hell was all the doctors?

Why was no one helping me?

I looked back at the oxygen tank to see that it wasn't even connected to the wall like the one i had used,

"Are you kidding me?!" I exclaimed as I hurried around the bed.

Pulling at the heavy tank and stopping beside Colby.

I couldn't find the mask until i looked under the bed and reached for it.

I grabbed it, carefully placing the mask over Colby's mouth and nose.

I made sure it was secure.

I stood up and stumbled out of the hospital room and to the front desk.

Still, no one was around.

I thought quickly, picking up the phone on the desk and letting it ring out.

RING

RING

RING

"Hello, this is administration. How may I help?" An unfimilar voice spoke calmly over the phone,

"I need help- there is no one around" I said clearly into the phone,

"Okay. I will send someone up shortly", she said, remaining calm,

"No, I need someone now!" I demanded and dropped the phone.

I ran back into Colby's room to see him still bleeding out.

I knealed down beside him and applied pressure to the wound.

He wasn't awake anymore.

He was lying there at the foot of the bed, unconscious,

"Just hang in there okay-" I begged, hoping he could hear me.

I was interupted by the door opening and 3 paramedics rushing in.

I was ushered out of the room for the hundredth time this day and told to wait.

I waited and I waited.

It had been roughly an hour since I was rushed out of the room and into the waiting area.

The doors that were separating me and Colby were pushed open.

Colby was on the hospital bed and rushed down the hall.

I ran after them and caught up to the three paramedics,

"Where are you taking him?" I asked,

"To where he should be" he answered as the other two ran ahead with Colby and the 3rd stayed behind to explain to me,

"He never should of been in that ward. He should of been on floor 2 with the recovery patients, not on this floor with the mentally ill and addict patients."

I tried my best to take in all of the information that had been laid on me all at once.

I continued to follow Colby and the paramedics down the long and winding hallways.

Reaching an elevator and the paramedics pressed the button.

We waited and the doors opened.

We all climbed in and I seemed to be the only one who was freaking out,

"Mrs?" The paramedic i talked to before spoke up, noticing my distress.

I faced him, giving him my full attention as I finally caught my breath,

"Were you the one who attach the mask? The oxygen?" He asked politely.

I felt more secure and safe with these people.

They seemed sane and like they actually knew what they were doing.

I nodded,

"Well good thing you did because you might of just saved his life" the paramedic chuckled, trying to lighten the mood,

"I did?" I questioned in disbelief,

"Well you certainly did a better job at whatever they were doing" He said, referring to the 'doctors'.

I just wanted this all to be over.

I just want to go home.
