if you thought this was an update, i apologize. however, in light of shinee's jonghyun's sudden passing, i felt the need to say something.
shawol or not, everyone needs to take note of what jonghyun felt the need to do. he had some sort of inner demons, and he is the only person to know exactly what they were saying. he was cheerful, joyful, and just in general an amazing soul. the world is gloomier now that he's gone.
he killed himself by carbon monoxide poisoning. he put a coal briquette on a pan on his stove. other that this whole situation, a thing that shocked me was a statement f i'm a korean shawol. they said that the method of suicide he used was common in korea. the fact that a method of taking one's own life can be considered common is earth shattering. korea has a depression epidemic.
with that being said, i read on twitter that if idols come forth with their mental healthy issues, they'll be black listed. that means they'll get paid less, their group will be promoted less, and they may even get kicked out of their group (taehyun from winner is a good example). this makes my heart hurt in a way that words can't describe. idols get shunned for simply saying "can you help me get help?".
the suicide of jonghyun is sudden an unexpected. it's hard to swallow. however, i truly believe that he will become a martyr. his death reflects badly on sm for not getting him the help he needed, and it's shed some light on idols with depression.
rest easy jonghyun.
