Today was different.
Waking up felt weird.
Saying hi felt hopeless.
And trying felt useless.
"The less of everything is the more to something." My mother used to say.
Before she died.
Run. She had told me. Run like your life depends on it. Which it did.
If I had not have ran, would she still be alive, her warm smile next to me? Or would I have gone down the same path as her,a cold, long death before her daughter's eyes? Would dad have been happy and not get arrested for abuse under influence? What influence,I do not know.
I want my mommy. I want my daddy. Even if it hurt,I would break myself to have them back.
I would break myself.
I'm already broken.
"Hey,Soeun! You okay?" My best friend,Mirae, yelled from across the café.
"Wah-oh,yes Mimi,I'm fine." I jumped, not used to the loud voice.
"Here. Have some coffee before heading off."
She slid a cup of her famous coffee towards me, and with a groan I plopped down on one of the chairs and gulped it down. I was never a coffee person.
"Train-wreck?" Mirae called me. "You look horrible. You sure you want to go out?"
"What's summer for?" I muttered and got up. "Imma go now."
"Okay!"
I should've never come back. Then Mirae would still be safe.
