No.18 ~ Hurricane

NERIC

SUMMARY- Hurricane Oscar tears through Los Angeles and Nell and Eric's home is destroyed.

Chapter 1
Nell's POV

"Residents lie in wait as Hurricane Oscar destroys Los Angeles," said the Channel 6 news

"Eric come take a look at this!" I yelled, Eric walked

"What is it?" He asked

"Hurricane Oscar," I said turning up the volume

"Hurricane Oscar is said to reach the north of Los Angeles this evening," continued the reporter

We looked outside at the gloomy weather "I'll go bring Hunter's toys in, " said Eric as he walked outside

"It is recommended that you stay inside and secure your home," said the reporter. Eric came inside with Hunter's toys
"we have to stay inside its to dangerous," I said Eric nodded I called Lindsay who was upstairs she came down with Hunter in her arms "go home a hurricane is on its way," I told her
"Thank you," she smiled giving Hunter to me she went back upstairs and grabbed her suitcase she went home and we and ERIC secured the swings and outside furniture we closed all of the doors and waited.

An hour had past and the rain was getting heavier by the second the garden was flooding and Hunter was getting scared. The wind was getting worse and the power had gone out. "The wind is picking up we should go into the bath like the reporter said," Eric informed we grabbed some pillows, blankets, clothes and food and hopped in the bath Hunter began to cry "shh...shh... it's okay Hunter...shh," I comforted hugging Hunter suddenly there was a loud crash.

Chapter 2

Eric's POV

"So how much is it going to cost to fix the damage?" I asked. The insurance officer handed me a slip of paper with a number on it "$600,000!" I exclaimed he nodded "it'll be cheaper to buy a new house," I said
"It may be a good idea," informed the insurance officer.
"And insurance money covers 0%," I said still not believing what I was hearing
"Sorry that's life," he nodded walking away

I went over to an emotional Nell I stood beside her and put my arm around her waist I handed her the paper and she cried
"it will be cheaper to buy a new house," I said not making eye contact
I saw her nod out of the corner of my eye "are you okay?" I asked she cried a little more
"Eric...our home...it's gone," I sighed and faced her head on. I wrapped both my arms around her and kissed the top of her head
"Nell it's okay," I comforted.

Chapter 3
Nell's POV

"Hetty thanks for letting us stay at your place we really appreciate it," I said thanking Hetty with a short hug
"Its fine Ms Beale," we unloaded our things and got comfy. I called Lindsay and told her where we were and what our plan was and then me and Eric started house searching "so the insurance money pays for none of the cost... what are we going to do?" I asked staring to stress
"I don't know," Eric said
"Mr Beale...Ms Jones let me worry about the cost, house and furniture. You just focus on what's important...your family and your job" said Hetty we smiled " Oh Hetty thank you so much!" I exclaimed almost crying.

Chapter 4
Eric's POV
1month later
Its been a month since Hurricane Oscar tore through Los Angeles we were still looking for a house and we were still loving at Hetty's house. Today was our monthly work barbeque and we were having it at Hetty's, we got dressed. Me in smart casual I wore a formal button up shirt with some shorts, Nell wore a beautiful light pink and white poka dotted summer dress she looked beautiful. The team would be here soon and it would be the first time we saw them since the hurricane it was going to be nice to catch up and see if everyone is okay.

Ding dong

Went Hetty's doorbell the sound reminded me so much of our old doorbell I walked towards the door and let Kensi, Deeks and little Hazel inside Nell came walking in delighted to see them again "nell... Hi!" Kensi exclaimed
"Hey you look beautiful," she replied I smiled as we walked outside they each grabbed a drink and sat down. We talked for a while and after a few minutes the whole team and their families were here; Sam with Michelle and his 4 year old daughter, Callen with Joelle and their two twin daughters Lucy and Maddi and Kensi and Deeks with Hazel and even Hetty had a man in her life who had come to join the barbeque. The event made me realise how much the team has evolved since a few years ago we had all changed in more ways than one and we all had someone in our lives.

Chapter 5
Nell's POV
Beep beep beep

Went my laptop I walked up to it and saw a house offer pop up on the screen I opened the offer and looked at the house "Eric!" I called Eric waltzed in holding Hunter in his arms "what is it?" He asked
"A house offer look," I said pointing at the screen we looked at the house for a while and smiled. We wrote down the address and drove down to the house, a real estate agent showed us around and we loved it. It was a nice, medium sized, blue and white house, with a lot of room and a pool, it was a good price and it came with furniture. We discussed a price and settled on $255,000 we left and told Hetty she smiled and was certain that she would pay for the new house we disnt object and we straight away called the real estate agent and bought the house.

Chapter 6
Nell's POV

A week had passed and today we were moving in to our new home it was half an hour away from Hetty's house and 10minutes away from OSP it was just right. Before we left we thanked Hetty for letting us stay and she gave us a bottle of red wine "a house warming gift," she smiled we accepted gracefully and left. We got to our new home and smiled, after unpacking our suitcases of clothes we sat down outside and enjoyed the LA sunlight.
