Chapter 8

Third Person P.O.V.

"So wait, the same thing that Damon was told by Silas in a dream is what we have to do in order to get rid of him?" Jeremy asked as he stood by the fireplace with Stefan who had a frown plastered to his face.

Alaric nodded. "Yeah, how do we know that Silas didn't just lie and these books don't actually mean anything?" He stated, looking at the book written in Greek. The translation was in a separate book, but Alaric knew the translations were rough.

Tyler and Bonnie exchanged a look. "We don't know. Amara is on the Other Side. Qetsiyah created it to trap Silas. Blood from Stefan would be from a doppelganger and that means that you are a supernatural force even as a vampire. Caroline, Lexi, and Jenna were on the Other Side. You guys know what it's like so when you guys came back, you guys broke the veil. That means that a small little tear is in it and all Silas needs to do is open it a little bigger and then destroy it all. Then I can perform the spell." Bonnie explained.

"Why can't he just bring back Amara and not take down the Other Side?" Jenna asked.

Tyler answered this with "Because he basically wants to give Qetsiyah the middle finger and show her that no matter what, he won."

Caroline had a thoughtful expression. "What about... you know... How do we know they'll come back? If they're even over there?" She whispered. Damon had been on vervain for a while, but everyone wanted to make sure he couldn't hear when they were talking about them. It was awkward.

"What do you mean Caroline?" Jeremy asked. He had grown close to his sister while she was alive, and once they found out she died, he felt like he lost his parents all over again.

Caroline shrugged and then thought it over for a minute.

"Why would Elijah and Rebekah know? Elijah is Klaus's brother. Klaus tried to kill... Her how man time? What if they're actually alive and Elijah was lying because she told him to and Rebekah went along with it?" She explained.

Stefan shook his head. "That wouldn't make sense. She said that when Jacob kidnapped her, Elijah saved her life by distracting Klaus. If they didn't die, why wouldn't she be here now?"

Caroline thought about what she said. "What if Damon didn't take the baby news well and then she had Elijah and Rebekah tell him they past because she didn't want him around the baby? Or he said he didn't want to be around it?" Jeremy asked, a look clouded over his face.

"But he loved her. Why would he be mad?" Lexi asked.

"Not to mention, but the baby would be a Slayer. Passed onto her by... Her." Alaric still felt uncomfortable about talking about them. He had a feeling they weren't dead for a while after Stefan had told them the terrible news.

But then, the more he heard them discuss the possibility she was still alive, the more he believed it.

"If they're designed to kill Silas, wouldn't Silas know if they were alive? I mean, the baby would be a threat to him." Jeremy wondered aloud.

Stefan shook his head. "When he told Damon that he could bring them back, he sounded serious. All he wants is Amara." It reminded him of his time trying to find Katherine when he first had learned she died in the Church fire. The thought made him shudder.

"Well then what do we do?" Jeremy asked. "I'm not about to have every angry supernatural being come back." Memories of all the horrible creatures he had come across in the last few years in Mystic Falls came rushing back. His brain couldn't even comprehend what other horrible or worse things were lurking in the shadows.

Stefan shook his head. "We won't." He seemed sure of himself.

Alaric glanced at everyone. "Well then what do we do?" He asked. "It's not like he won't just come after us now."

"No. Jeremy is right about one thing. Silas won't let us leave and we can't run. But if we stay, we fight. And if we fight, we need people who know what they're doing." Lexi stated.

"What do you mean?" Jeremy asked. He had a vague idea of what the blonde was thinking, yet he couldn't believe she was actually thinking it over.

Lexi smirked slightly. Everything from the posture of her body to the smug look in her eye showed everyone in the room she knew she was right. And they all knew she was, too.

"If there is actual doubt that they're not dead, then we go to the source. Track down Elijah and Rebekah and see if they're hiding something." He shrugged his shoulder. "Or better yet, someone." Alaric said, agreeing to what Lexi was thinking aloud.

"So we're going to track down a pair of one thousand year old vampires and hope they're hiding them?" Tyler asks.

Several heads nod. Though there were seeds of doubt weighing in many of them.
