Evie's POV
Hi. I'm the girl that no one cares about, the one that if I died, they wouldn't care. They? Yep. Max and Harvey Mills. I know what you're thinking. "Noooo they are so sweet!" You are so so wrong. It's all an act for the fame.
I usually spend my lunchtimes alone, gazing at the groups walking by, seeing the happiness on their faces. Why am I different from everyone else? Why do I spend lunch alone? Well. I'm too shy to speak to people and everyone I do speak to either turns on me or it's really awkward. But that doesn't mean I don't want any friends. Actually, it's the opposite. That's my biggest wish. Not to mention, I have a very big crush on this boy. He's just amazing. Like actually amazing. Except, he's not. He's horrible. But I can look past that. The thing is, I've never really spoken to him. He's never really spoken to me. Well, he doesn't want to speak to me.
"Well you can't have a crush on him then" Rosie says. I didn't know how to answer. She's one of the people I've managed to talk to. Sometimes she's quite brutally honest. But she doesn't understand. At all. "Ugh for god sake Evie, pay attention!" She snapped before leaving me, alone. I don't really think I would call her a friend. She's just a girl that I can have occasional conversations with.
I was sat alone (what a suprise😂) on a bench in the cafeteria flicking through my musically feed. Ok. There's something I need to admit. I'm a huge MILLSIE. Like enormous. Anyway, u might be wondering "how are u a fan if they bully u?" Because they are just adorable. And I have a fan page for them, which no one knows about. People know I have a fan page but they don't know who it's for or what it's called, that makes me even more weird. Anyway, I was sat alone flicking through my feed when I was tapped on the shoulder. I'll be honest, I freaked out. I quickly shoved my phone into my blazer and whipped my head around to see who wanted my attention. As you can tell, this is very, very rare.
Max's POV
Harvey, Dylan and I were walking into the cafeteria when we saw Evie sat all alone. That girl is such a weirdo. She has no friends yet manages to have a fan account for someone. Anyway, my job is to make her life shit. I decided to tap her on the shoulder. If I'm honest, I don't want to do this, but I have to or else Dylan will kick Harvey and I out of the group. She looks so beautiful and she seems so nice, I feel so bad for her. What the fuck did I just say? She's a slob.
I tapped her on the shoulder and she looked cute. I know. STOP IT MAX. I mean she looked disgusting. She flinched then turned around to see who wanted her attention. Aw little Evie thought she had friends.
Evie's POV
Fuck off Max. I can't deal with this. What have I ever done wrong? Yes. I did start wearing long sleeve tops a few months ago. Do you know why? Dylan was my best friend. He, along with you shitbags, turned on me. But why did max come up to me? He never does. He's never really spoken to me.
Max's POV
"Hi, how are you?" I ask her. Obviously this is a joke because I'm her bully.
"Hi-" She begins, turning around. "-oh go away max."
"Aw little Evie's getting all sad because she thought she had friends! Wrong." I reply.
Then she pulled out her phone, ignoring me. But I didn't leave.
The sleeve of her maroon hoodie slightly slid up her arm. What I saw, killed me.
She gave me a blank look. I just stood there, bright red.
"Hey Maxipad whos the lucky ladyyy-" Harvey cane over. "oh. It's her." He finished. I said nothing.
"Why are you with her then?"
Shut up harvey.
"Yeah. Why are you here, Max?" Evie spoke up.
Did not expect that. At all.
I kept gesturing for Harvey to look at her arm. Harvey being Harvey, didn't get the hint. I had to confront her. Now. Harvey hates her. So maybe this would change his mind?
I lightly took hold of Evie's hand and flipped he arm so her forearm was facing up. She looked at me, scared. But before she had chance to pull away, I rolled up her sleeve.
"Evie." I say,
"M-max go away!" She stuttered, escaping my grasp.
"No! I am not going away! You need me! Someone.. you need someone!" I replied, slightly angrily.
"Max! What the hell are you on about?! She has no friends! Why do you want to be one of them? Look at her! She's stupid! Leave her, we need to find Dylan." Harvey snapped.
NO. I've had enough. I have had enough of being the bully.
"You know what? Piss off Harvey! Tell Dylan I don't care about being in the group. Go find your poxy little friends and bother someone else." I clenched my jaw.
"Phahaha.. what's got into you!? You're such a baby, Max! Have fun with your attention seeking girlfriend." Harvey laughs, that is it.
"Give me your arm." I whispered to Evie.
She did exactly what I said.
"Harvey, look." I said, softly.
I rolled up her sleeves.
Harvey's POV
Max has all of a sudden begun to stick up for that skank. What a baby. She's weird. What's gotten into him?
Oh no. No no no. Ive just seen something that I never wanted to see. I've always been scared of this happening. I don't know what to feel. So I chose to feel nothing and walk away.
Max's POV
"Evie, why?" I ask her, calmly.
"I don't trust you Max. You don't deserve to know." She replied.
"Look, I'm sorry." I try to convince her into telling me.
"Sorry? After all of these years all you can possibly say is 'sorry'!? You are pathetic Max Mills. You, Harvey and I used to be so close. Remember that? Reception through to year 6? What ever got into you, I do not know. I don't know how you could turn on me like this? And Dylan, he was the person I could tell anything to and not be judged. Then one day he just left. And now he hates me, so do you!"
I don't know how to reply. I remember primary school. I remember being close. But I never wanted to end that. It's Dylan's fault.
"Evie, I do remember the whole of primary school, I'd never forget it. Harvey and I are made to bully you by Dylan. We don't want to. Well, I don't want to. I am truly sorry." I reply.
But was I sorry? Did I really care?
"Save it Max. I don't care anymore. We're now as close as strangers. (5sos reference anyone?😂)"
Ouch. That actually really hurt. She hates me. My mistakes are irreversible. She's right, we are only as close as strangers.
"Well, I guess you don't want to be friends, that's ok, but I care about you, Evie."
No you don't Max. You know that. Stop lying to the poor girl.
"No you don't, if you cared about me, you'd choose to leave Dylan. I know the only reason you're saying this is so I show you my scars. Fine. I will. But you won't want to see them."
She rolls up her sleeve to reveal M and H carved deeply into her forearm, her pain was written on her arm. Her pain was me. Her pain is me. Her pain has always been me. Her pain will always be me. Mental and physical pain. Otherwise known as Max and Harvey Mills.
