The man in the window is clearly dead and is almost inside. Mary knows what she must do but its way harder in real life than she could possibly imagine. All the games, scenarios thought about with friends, everything means nothing in a sense. She goes to the garage to get a machete from her dads gardening/hunting supply. She runs back to the kitchen ready to commit to the act she's about to do. The man in the windows head is exposed but his arm grabs frantically. She grabs his wrist and moves it aside then slings the machete down into his skull with all her force. The body goes limp then falls back outside the window. She just successfully killed a zombie, which explains the man in front who was shot around twenty times and was still crawling. Mary never thought this would ever happen nor did she prepare but she knows that she needs to adapt and quickly. The disease crossed America in less than an hour meaning millions could be like this. She gets to the home phone and attempts to call her parents but the lines are down. She instantly begins to sob, facing the fact that her parents are probably dead. After about twenty minutes of panic, worry, and fear, she has a sense of Epiphany and gets up wiping her eyes, heads upstairs to change into camo cargo pants, police boots her dad passed down to her once he left the force, a gray tightly fit tank top and a backpack she used for camping that was olive green with plenty of compartments. She packed necessary clothes, canned food, water,a box of 100  .22 rounds, and her pocket knife. She went back to her dads garage to get a holster for her machete then ate whatever perishable foods were left in the house. She got her dads .22 revolver, and left out the back door.
It was almost dusk at the time so she stayed within the streetlights illumination and started heading towards downtown Hillsboro Oregon.
