FEW HOURS LATER:

JYNNA”S POV:

I had a terrible stomachache and my head was throbbing. I felt around and I think I’m on a couch. But who’s couch? ‘What if the Erasers got me and I’m at a rundown hotel awaiting my death?!’ No! Stop it Jynna, they didn’t get you! And even if they did you could take them! Maybe I should open my eyes, take out the first Eraser and then if there’s more I’ll get them to. But, as I was planning my escape I heard light footsteps coming towards the couch. I decided to keep my eyes closed and pretend to sleep. Maybe it was a safer way to find out where I am. I felt someone sit next to me on the couch. I also smelled food. I didn’t know what it was, but I knew that I wanted some. Them the one that sat next to me spoke in the quietest voice in the world.

“You know Jynna; I think the gang really likes you. Even though you ran like that, they ran after you. I think they really care about you. I know I do. But, I think I like you a little more than they do though. Ha, even Two-Bit! You know he can’t stop talking about you. He wants you to watch Mickey Mouse with him. He’s kind of a fanatic. Anyway, Darry made you some food, heck; he even made you chocolate cake! He hasn’t made that in a while. But, he must care about you to make some. Especially one so big!” He kind of chuckled. “Everyone’s real worried about you Jynna. I wish you’d wake up so that I can hear your voice, your laugh, see your smile. Man, your smile sure can brighten up a room. Anyway, I’ll leave ya alone. Try to wake up, for me?” He got up and I felt soft lips on my forehead. I fluttered open my eyes to see the boy I had saved from those teenagers. Johnny. The boy that made my heart skip a beat when he smiled. The boy that has that lost, abused puppy look that I know all too well. And now, the boy that likes me, maybe even more than a friend. But, why? I barely know him! And most of all he doesn’t know me! Anything about me, and I’d like to keep it that way too. I don’t want him or the rest of his friends to get hurt because of me. I have to leave. I have to get out of here before they find out about him. Then, I made the mistake of looking into his practically black eyes. The eyes that I think I’m falling for. The eyes that could draw me in and never let me out.

“Hey.” Said Johnny softly with a slight smile on his face.

“Umm, h-hey.” I stuttered. He smiled and helped me up. Johnny led me to a kitchen where everyone else (except Dally) was sitting around the kitchen table. Once we entered the room everyone turned to look at me and Johnny. I sort of hid behind Johnny. And the one that he called Darry stood up and walked towards us. I grabbed Johnny’s arm, afraid of the towering beast approaching us. Johnny smiled and took my hand giving me a reassuring look that seemed to say ‘It’s okay, he won’t hurt you.’ I loosened my grip but kept my hand on his arm.

“Hey, hon, how’d you sleep?” Darry asked.

“Fine” I said in a quiet voice. Darry chuckled and went over to the fridge and pulled out some chocolate cake and put it on a plate. He walked it over to me and put it out so I could take it. I shook my head. I was thinking ‘What if it’s drugged or something?’

“No I couldn’t. I don’t want to take up your food and intrude in your home.” I said in the most polite tone I could manage.

“Look, Jynna, We aren’t gonna hurt you. We just want to help. Now, eat something, you’re as skinny as a toothpick.” He said in sort of a worried tone. I was scared. Scared that they were gonna take me back, scared they were gonna conduct more experiments on me. I shook my head again. And let go of Johnny’s arm, I started to slowly back away. Johnny looked back at me with those eyes and that expression on his face had mixed emotions. Worried, pleading, scared, and hopeful. Like he wanted- no- needed me to stay. All it took was that one look for me to completely change my mind. I shook my head again, but this time, it meant yes. Johnny smiled and took the cake from Darry and held it out for me. I took it and the one called Soda moved and let me sit down. I hesitantly took a bite of the cake. It was amazing! The rich chocolate icing made my mouth water. A genuine smile spread across my lips as I took my second bite. This earned a laugh from the guys. It was kind of awkward, them just sitting there watching me eat. But I didn’t care; all I cared about was this amazing cake! This is the first thing I’ve eaten in four days. And I’m starving. After I finished, I took the plate to the sink and washed it then I saw a bunch of dirty dishes on the counter, and I figured I should at least do this for them. So I started to wash them. By the time I had decided to do this the guys went back to the living room. I could hear them laughing and carrying on in there. But then It stopped. I couldn’t hear them anymore. ‘Oh well, maybe they went outside’ I thought to myself so I started to sing a little song I wrote while in that prison.
