I woke up still dressed in everything but my sweatshirt and my shoes. My torso was marked with bruises from the scuffle the night before. I smelled coffee and breakfast in the kitchen. I talked to Gabby all night until I fell asleep. I couldn't even remember that she was there at first. The last thing I could remember was her cutting off the bedroom lights.
I took a shower and headed downstairs to see Gabrielle in one of my oversized sweatshirts setting up the plates. The last time I saw her this comfortable around me was the morning following graduation when she told me she was moving to Jersey for college instead of going to Xavier with me.
