"Gaston, you have everything. What more could you ever want?" I laughed as my best friend spun me around. He stopped and gazed out at the lake we had travelled to for a day alone together. He nodded slowly.

"Well (y/n). I am missing one thing." Gaston turned to me with a sad smile.

"What's that gaston?" I asked as I gripped his arm and gazed up at him adoringly. He'd never notice but I loved him and dropped every hint possible.

Like every other man in the small village of villeneuve, gaston just wouldn't take a hint. The others couldn't see I wasn't interested and gaston couldn't see I loved him more than life itself. And it wasn't just because he was the handsome war hero, although that certainly helped. It was because of the man I know him to truly be. Gaston ever truly smiled when he was with me and he was actually smarter than he ever let on. Gaston was the perfect man all around.

But he just couldn't see I loved him.

"A wife." Gaston said as he turned to face me. I swallowed quickly thinking he was talking about belle, the girl he had been trying to court for the last few years. Just like he couldn't take the hint that I liked him, he couldn't take the hint that she wasn't interested. Then again she didn't know him like I knew him. I got lost in his greenish brown eyes and didn't hear what he was saying to me. "(Y/n)?" I blinked at my name and looked back at him with a clear head.

"I'm sorry. What did you say?" I asked. Gaston smiled and blushed, clearly embarrassed he had to ask again.

"I asked if you would....well if you wanted to....." Gaston seemed to have trouble finding the right words, something he never had trouble with. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath before looking me in the eye. "Would you give me everything in the world and the only thing I need?" I looked at him confused.

"What are you asking exactly gaston?" I asked. He sighed and squeezed his eyes shut. He looked like he was in the verge of breaking. "Gaston please help me understand." I placed my hands on his biceps and tried not to swoon.

"Would you be the one thing I could ever want?" He asked. I looked at him. He was talking in riddles and it was confusing me. Gaston could see it in my eyes. "Will you marry me?" I gasped as he said those four words. Gaston had to grab my arms to keep me from falling and I stared at him with wide eyes.

"Your wife?" I asked in disbelief. Gaston nodded.

"Yes (y/n). My wife." He said with a smile. I was dazed as he continued. "I only pursued belle to make you jealous because I didn't think you liked me how I liked you. LeFou straightened me out and showed me what had been in front of me the entire time but I was too stupid to see. I love you (y/n). Please marry me." I blinked up at him. Gaston seemed to look more defeated with each passing moment. "I understand if you don't want to. I was the only man in town who didn't try to win your affections and I understand if you decide to let one of the others court you but I want you to know....."

I never found out what he wanted me to know because j grabbed the collar of his war jacket and pulled him towards me as I went up on my toes to press my lips to his. When we pulled away gaston looked dazed and I was content.

"Yes gaston. I'll marry you. I love you too." I said with a smile as I put my arms around his neck.

"Good." Gaston said as he pulled me in for another kiss.
