Beep.
Beep.
Beep.

I can hear the heart monitor. A fast heart beat. My heart beat. I hear my mothers voice.

"Doctor, will my daughter be alright?" My mother asks.
"Ma'am, you've asked for twenty minutes straight. Just let us focus." The doctor says before wrapping something around my wrists.
"Alex, honey. It will be okay. Where is Jay and Lukas?" I hear my father talking, and he is probably holding my mother.
"I-I can go call them. They were having a shopping day for school." My mom, Alex, says. 'School starts in exactly one week..'

As my heart rate increases in speed, I can hear my mom dial a phone number into the phone. I hear my brothers voice, "Hey mom. Is everything okay? Lukas and I came home but you, dad nor Jesse was there. We figured you guys went out." My brothers voice is calm. "Jay, your sister did it again..." She says, but I do not hear a call back from Jay.
"..."
"Jay..?"
"..."
"Jay...?!"
"Lukas, start the car! We are going to the hospital!"

Even though I can not see him now, I could tell there are tears in his eyes. I could tell from his voice. I slowly open my eyes and look at my parents.

About seven days later, I wake up in my bed. 'Another day in paradise.' I think before getting up. I look at my reflection in the mirror, above my nightstand. My hair is an absolute mess. "..." I stare at my reflection before looks down at my feet. There is a knock on my door then it slow opens. "Jesse, can I talk to you?" A familiar voice says. I smile and look at my brother. Jay. He sits on my bed and I sit next to him. He had my Schedule, locker number and lock and school uniform in his arms; A dark purple skirt, a white blouse, white knee-high socks, black shoes and a black vest. 'Go endermens' I think before grabbing them and putting them in my own hands. Jay grabs a brush and starts brushing my hair as he talks to me. "So, Jesse, Today is our first day of high school and Lukas and I— Giving what had just happened a week ago— Think that it is best that you stay by us during break and lunch," He continues to brush my hair, "Especially today because it is the first day of school. Meeting new people, Getting new classes..." He takes a deep breathe. He quickly ties my hair into a ponytail then he leaves. I look at the uniform in my arms then put it down with my lock, locker number paper and my schedule. After getting dressed, I head downstairs, only to see my mom.

"So, Jesse are you ready to talk?" Alex looks down at me, with worried eyes.
"..." I look up at her then pull my backpack over my shoulder.
"Dammit, Jesse! Its been 11 years! Why can't you just talk." She starts to raise her voice.
"Mom, will you just drop it, already?!" Jay walks in and grabs my hand, "Jesse will talk when she is ready!" He pulls on my arm, causing me to drop my papers.
"Jay, do not talk back to your mo—"
HONK!
I look out the kitchen window to see Lukas, my best friend since... Forever in his navy blue Honda civic. He honks his horn again then I grab my stuff and go to the kitchen. He sees me and grins then he waves. I wave back then grab an apple. 'I can't believe it. Highschool...' My thoughts race about every scenario that could possibly go wrong. 'Earthquake, bullies, being called on, being asked to talk, math, embarrassing myself, falling over, going to the wrong locker...' I look at the front door as Jay opens it. The cold wind interrupts my thoughts. "C'mon Jesse!" Jay says and I slowly follow him. As I tighten the bandages around my wrist, I step outside of my house then look at my mom. "Have fun at school!" She says says. I look at my dad and he smiles, "Don't forget to be yourself." He kisses the to of my head then I walk over to Lukas' car.
