Matthew had a high-stress job. Gilbert knew this. On top of being an author, he was also a secretary for an office full of attorneys, so he went through all their reports and things before they went in front of a judge. He also happened to work from home, which is convenient when you have a few pets to take care of, are writing a book, and on top of that getting ready to adopt a baby soon. The Canadian had a lot on his hands, that's for sure. He often found himself up at three in the morning, going over something about somebody getting their foot stuck in a wood chipper or something like that. And no matter how much Gilbert begged him to relax, or go to bed, he couldn't. He wouldn't let himself. Every night, he begged the Canadian to rest. The bed felt awfully lonely and cold without his precious birdie there...he just wanted to see them happy and warm and not stressed out and busy for once. "Birdie? Are jou busy?" He pokes his head in the door. On this current evening, Matthew sat at his desk, drinking his Tim Horton's coffee and typing away on his keyboard, occasionally biting his pen and jotting something down on his notepad. He jolted up, a little surprised, and turned around to face his husband. His hair was a wreck, and he had bags under his eyes. His usual vibrant, beautiful violet eyes were dull and grey with stress. He spoke, his voice a little hoarse from lack of use. "Hm? Oh, uh, just a little... Why?" He faked a smile. "Birdie...vhy not come to bed...ist very late and you need it." The albino seemed worried. Actually worried. Matthew sighed, fixing his tired eyes on his work for a minute, and brushing some hair out of his eyes with his right hand, his wedding band catching the light for a second. He looked back to Gilbert, his eyes sad and his face giving him a pained look. "I... I can't, Gil..." he looked down. "I have to go over these shitty reports and revise them, improve the grammar and all that..." he shifted in his. hair, playing with his fingers a little. Matthew never swore, so he must be pretty upset at this point. The German man grew a little agitated. "...i vont take no for an answer." "Yes, you will. Go back to sleep, Gilbert. I'll be there in..." he looked at his work, and how much he had to do, then sighed. "twenty million hours...." he groaned a little. Of course, he was exaggerating. He knew it wouldn't take that long. but every passing second he had to sit there typing and jotting notes and improving grammar, felt like eons. Matthew sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose and turning around back to his work, getting back to fixing the grammar mistakes, revising, and all that fun stuff."Birdie..." Gilbert coo'd. He walked over and picked up the Canadian bridal style and carried him to the bed. He squeaked, trying to squirm away "G-Gil!!" he huffed. "Jou vill Sleep here tonight." "Gilbert... I-I really can't..." he looked down, curling up in a ball, trying to make himself as small as possible. "Nein! My Birdie shall sleep in bed tonight instead of having his sveet head on a desk surrounded by paper." He laid the Canadian down, unbuttoning his shirt. Matthew blushes, gently pushing the Albino off of himself with a huff. "I can't, Gil." he said a little firmly."Jou vork all day and night it's time jou rest." He seemed pretty stern for once. He removed the shirt, putting an old Blink 182 T-shirt on the blond. "No, Gilbert." Matthew's voice hardened, but it was also starting to break and falter a little. he rolled away from his husband and gently(and i mean like really gently) stormed out of the room, shutting the door behind him and going back to his laptop. Gil started to get worried, and walked to his husband now, actually afraid "Matthew..." "Please...I'm getting very vorried about jou..." He looked genuinely concerned for the man, giving him a sad look, although Matthew didn't see it. "Gilbert, just-" he sighed. mustering all of his courage to spit this out. "Just go away." Matthew's voice faltered, and he started to shake a little."Please Matt...I'm very vorried about jou...jou haven't slept in bed for a few veeks now..." The albino reached a hand out towards his husband, then decided better of it. "And zhats not okay..." He tried to ignore his lover now, going back to typing and jotting and revising, his shoulders tense, as he tried to make himself seem small. He tried to ignore the tears in his eyes, ready to spill at any second. And he tried to ignore Gil's constant concerned remarks towards his current state. He tried to block it all out, focusing only on his work. Gilbert finally decided to put a gentle hand on Matt's shoulder. "Please...I'm begging jou...zhis is not right...just come to bed even if just for tonight...joure exhausted..." The Canadian finally broke, giving a small, heart-wrenching sob as he buried his face in his arms on his desk, shuddering and shaking with a hopeless sort of sadness that was almost sickening. "Birdie?? Are jou okay??" Gil put his hand on his back, kneeling beside him worriedly. The man simply curled into a tighter ball in his chair, forcing more quiet sobs, hiccups, and sniffles out into his legs as he cradled himself, trying to regain composure. Gilbert picked up the Canadian, carrying him to bed and laying him on top of himself. "I'm sorry... I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry..." Matthew sobbed into Gilbert's shirt, hugging him tightly and quivering with small sobs and hiccups."Shhh Birdie...ist okay...you need to just let it out and rest..." he gently rubbed his husbands back to calm him down. Matthew kept this up for awhile, eventually calming down a bit and curling up on his husband, holding him close, although he still blinked a few tears from his eyes. "Hey Gil..?" he whispered up to his husband when he finally calmed down fully. "Ja, Mein liebe?" "Je t'aime..." "Ich liebe dich auch."
