The television illuminates the living room, casually changing the channels. I sigh at the lack of entraining shows and my eyes shifted up on the television to the clock showing is 11:00 p.m. on Friday night, any 18-year-old girl would rather be partying or shopping at a mall. The problem was I'd never get invited to parties and have an empty wallet.
But on the bright side, the house lacks bratty siblings and pestering parents. Getting up from the sofa to make a quick microwaveable food. After, setting the timer and I pondered what do next. I was left with a decision to do the chores I was assigned to or read fanfiction.
I pressed the on-button on my silver laptop and scanned for any interesting fanfiction. Don't get wrong there is fanfiction that is interesting but is a rarity. Looking up from the small screen, the television showing reruns of Trigun. I smile to myself remembering the pulling all-nighters just to watch this late 90's anime.
My train of thought is broken by the sound of beeping. Putting the laptop aside, and went to grab the food from the microwave. Finishing dinner, I went back to the living room.
The lights from the kitchen and the television start to flicker. I quietly mumbled to myself, "Great, I hope the lights don't go out." As that said, I was surrounded in the dark.
Boredom starts to set in quicker than expected. I blame the lack of wi-fi and conversations for the lack being entertained. I stared at the dark ceiling to see my imagination can entertain me in the meantime. Slowly in time, I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
Suddenly, scratching sounds stirred me from my sleep. Rubbing my eyes as the television static blinds me and sound continues," I hope to fucking God is not rats." Quickly searching for a broom for the small vermin. As my searching quest was over, a knocking sound I heard from the living room. "Who can it be at this hour?" Even though not knowing the correct time but judging outside it is most likely midnight. And checking on my smartphone there is no signal. "Great, things are getting better by the minute." saying sarcastically to myself. "A realization hit me Ma and Pa are not expected to come back after the weekend, and they took Vivi and Leo with them. So, who can it be?" Shivering at the thought it might be my potential murderer. Holding the broom as a weapon, and hoping that thought doesn't become a reality. Slowly walking towards the living room and armed, where the disturbing sounds are becoming louder.
Upon entering the dim-lit room, my eyes scanned of any intruders. The sounds are not coming from the entrance door ... it's coming from the television. Flinching as the lightning struck the ground the sounds are becoming frequent and louder. Terrified of this realization as I see the screen bulging from the forcible impact.
The edges of the television's screen start to crack. The first step I took the television's screen shatters and static hands materialize from the screen. Running away from the hands I tripped over my dropped weapon. The hands wrapped around my ankles and shoulders pulled me towards to their origin. Struggling from my captors but ultimately fail as the limbs have a steady grip. And my screams piercing through the rainy night.
