The rest of the week went on without a hitch. My check-up went smooth, with the exception of the still-present cancer, and Hailey and Blake were officially a 'thing'. I don't know why Hailey insisted they weren't together, but I just hope I'm not the reason.

Today's Tuesday, and that could only mean one thing.

"Cameron! Cameron! Cami! Wake the heck up!" Hailey yelled in my ear. "Jake Griffin is comig TODAY!! We need to get ready!"

I moaned. "He's coming after dinner, Hailey. And besides, what makes you think he'd want to hang out with a girl who has cancer?"

"Be more positive, Cami! And he doesn't know you have cancer. Isn't that a good thing? He'll treat you like a normal person! That's what you always want, right?"

"Yeah," I say, sitting up. "But listen to me. Jake Griffin is a superstar. And do you know what superstars do? They'll make you feel all special, but when they day comes, they'll drop you. They'll leave you without a second thought."

"But that's the point!" She replied. "He can make you feel special. So give him the chance to get to know you. But don't give him the chance to ever forget about you."

I soon find myself alone in the cabin. Hailey has gone to get breakfast with Blake, and I know that Kellin will come knocking on our door at any second. I think about what Hailey said. Was it to give me false hope? Or did she really think I could befriend the Jake Griffin?

I get dressed, putting a little more effort into my outfit than I would've liked. I may not believe in my friending abilities, but Hailey does. And after everything that she's done for me, this is the least I could do.

I open the door to Kellin.

"Wanna grab some breakfast?" He asks.

"Sure."

We walk to the cafeteria, and get in line. I'll have to get up earlier from now on. The line's out the door and it takes us 20 minutes to reach the front. I get toast and a pear. I've never been a big breakfast person, but the doctors say I should eat more.

Kellin walks with me to the lake, where we find a picnic table and sit down. We talk about our plans for the summer. Kellin wants to get at least one lesson from Alex Williams, The Notes' guitarist.

I don't exactly have a plan. I want to enjoy the time I have left with my friends, the new and the old. I want to live my life in the part of it I'm guarenteed. I want to forget about the cancer and be normal for once.

I want to fall in love.

My want to give my heart away, and have it be broken. I plan on crying over a guy while Hailey hands me tissues. I want to experience everything that love brings you.

But I don't tell Kellin this. I have to be strong for them. I can't let them know how scared I am of dying.

Kellin and I talk for ages. We miss lunch because we started goofing off in the sand by the lake. I buried Kellin in the sand and he got stuck. He was there for a good 5 minutes because I couldn't stop laughing.

Before we know it, the sun is starting to set. We make our way to the cafeteria, where everyone is talking. Excited chatter fills the air as people ignore their food and await The Notes' arrival. We find Hailey and Blake at a table in the corner.

Throughout dinner, we are constantly laughing at how we have to yell at each other to have a conversation. I've laughed so much today, I'll be disappointed if I don't have a six-pack. After dinner, everyone heads out to the campfire arena. There are rows of benches making a half circle around a fire pit. The benches all face the stage, where The Notes will be making their grand entrance.

We are lucky enough to get a front row seat. I hypothesize everyone is changing their outfit, worrying over what the band members will think. I couldn't possibly be the only one not starstruck right now, right?

Within 10 minutes, the benches are filled and I'm squashed between Hailey and Kellin.

Four people walk out on stage and the girls start screaming. Until they notice it's the sound system guys. Then the room erupts in laughter.

A guitar starts playing, followed by the bass and drums. The three band member come out on stage. After a dramatic waiting period, Jake Griffin comes running onto the stage. He waves at the audience and looks around.

He starts singing, and in the middle of the chorus, his eyes fall on me. And before giving a full-on concert, he stutters on the word 'beautiful'.
