There were always folktales, there were always rumors. We thought they were just stories to inspire kids to fish and keep the city's business going. What was it about you might ask; the story went like this. When the world was created there was a balance that was meant to be kept. To keep this balance while withdrawn from the world the force that shaped everything decided to make two vessels to symbolize this balance, two koi. You couldn't mistake them for their scales were oddly colored. One was black as the night while the other was while as the clouds on a midsummer day. It said that if the black fish were to be captured and killed all the darkness in the world would be cured. I thought it was a myth, but they finally managed to trap it in 1941. Ecstatic the town had an extravagant celebration to finally kill the fish and rid the world of the terrible fortune that befalls everyone. Everyone was focused on the celebration, not me though I noticed something they didn't. I ran to the stage but it was too late, they had killed it. While wiping away the blood they cleaned off the oil that had tainted it's white scales. It was so quiet you could hear the heartbeat of a newborn babe. And that's when everything fell apart.
