One day everyone woke up with wings like angels, soon after scientists found out the color of your wings depend on your character.
The better your character, the more white your wings are. Mine were decently gray, but my familys were dark as hell, and I knew why.

POV. Lilly
I threw my stuff into a bag. I couldn't stand another day in this hellhole. My father had always hated me and my little brother, Ryan, for not wanting to take up the family business. My family has killed for generations, we were assassins and we were proud of it, at least they were. When I was five my mother trained me to have no emotions, to never feel for our victims, but over the years Ryan and I have learned how horrible this life is. I took care of him and always tried to teach him kindness and he was by far the best of us.
I zipped the bag closed and marched over to Ryan's room. I saw him sitting on the floor doing a puzzle, his snow white wings fluttered, reminding me that he was only a kid.
He looked up at me and his face fell the moment he saw the look in my eyes.
He knew what we had to do and he hated it. He didn't wanted to stay here but he hated having to leave his room.

I had painted his room as a forest when he was five. He said it reminded him of a safe place. He was so pure and it hurt me that he can't have a normal childhood, or at least not yet.
He started to put his things into a backpack and I walked out of his room.
I was still trying to perfect my plan to start a new life with Ryan. With my family doing what they do, it's hard to hide from them but I plan to move as far away as possible, change our name and change our entire way of life.
I looked out the window over the gloomy sky of London. I looked down at a picture of New York City, I planned to move their because it's such a big city with many people, it would be harder to find us.
Ryan had walked out of his room, bag slung around his shoulder with sad eyes. I kissed his forehead and grabbed his hand tightly in mine.
My father and mom were in Vietnam, on a job for some CEO of a company. My sister was in a lab in Berlin, she was a scientist.
I grabbed Ryan's coat and his wing covers. Some people kept their wings out but people can use your purity, or impurity, against you. He slipped them on and clung to my arm tightly as we walked outside.
------------------------------------------
I had changed our names and passports. We were at an airport waiting for a flight to New York. It looked at Ryan's tired eyes, kissing the top of his head, thinking about a new life, where Ryan can be truly happy.
I felt the cold air blowing on my skin, as I felt a pang of hunger in my stomach. I shook Ryan softly as his emerald green eyes opened. He walked with me and to the sandwich shop and pointed to what he wanted and slumped into the chair and fell back to sleep.
------------------------------------------
We got off the plane and felt the freezing air against my hands, and saw Ryan shivering. I took off my black jacket and wrapped it tightly around his body. He clung to my arm as he did before as if it was all that was keeping him safe. I looked down at the plane ticket, staring at the name "Lilly Jones" my name was Jamie, but when I changed I decided on Lilly because Ryan always said I looked like a lily.
I waved a taxi over and tossed our luggage into the trunk. I've been using money that I saved from my old job as a waitress but it wouldn't last for long so I knew I would have to get a job soon. As I looked over at the driver I saw he had bright blue wings, some people dye their wings colors the same as you do hair. Ryan stared out the window at the brights lights that lit the night sky up.
We arrived at the hotel I booked for the night and Ryan sprawled across the bed and fell asleep instantly. I could only stare at the ceiling thinking about how fast everything is happening and the possibility that my "family" will find us.
