"I'll distract her," Derek replies as he goes to exit the car, only to be stopped by Stiles' hand holding him back from doing so.
"Whoa you? You're not going in there," Stiles tells him as Derek looks from the hand on his chest to Stiles' eyes, going back and forth with a, 'if you don't let go of me, I will kill you' look. "I'm taking my hand off," he responds understanding the message and jerks his hand back to the driver side of the vehicle.
"I was exonerated." Well, I'll just add that to the list of things Derek is keeping from me.
"You were a person of interest."
"An innocent person," Derek corrects as I roll my eyes at their bickering.
Stiles then turns his expression into a look of amusement as he scoffs at Derek's response, "An-you? Yeah, right."
Staring into Derek's angry looking orbs, he lets out a sigh and soon agrees to Derek's plan of distracting the girl at the front desk, "Okay fine. What's your plan?"
"To distract her," Derek deadpans, looking at Stiles like he's an idiot.
Just when I thought we were finally getting somewhere, Stiles pulls another sarcastic comeback out of his ass, steering up another argument. "Uh huh, how? By punching her in the face? Yeah."
"Listen," I finally cut in, leaning forward in between the two seats, "I'm about to punch both of you in the face if we don't get in there now and get Isaac."
Stiles sighs again, "Just give us a sample. What are you going to open with?"
Derek huffs, staying completely silent as he stares at both Stiles and I. "Dead silence. That should work beautifully," Stiles mutters sarcastically.
I throw my hands in the air, annoyed that we are getting nowhere, "Out. Get out of the car and go divert her. I don't care how, because the longer we sit here, the less time we have to get Isaac and get out." They both quickly evacuate the car after hearing the tone of my voice.
Derek walks in first, flirting with the receptionist lady as soon as she looks up at him. Stiles rolls his eyes, irritated that Derek's plan is working.
I gently push him to move so we can get this over with and we pass the desk effortlessly, heading to his fathers office that's located in the back.
Hastily punching in the code to unlock the box for the key, Stiles rips off the front piece of the box only to whisper an 'oh man,' under his breath as he looks behind him and starts running out of the room.
I go to look inside the lock box and notice that the key is missing and Stiles also didn't grab one before rushing out of here. That can only mean that the man arrived before us and is on his way to Isaac or has already gotten to him.
Following Stiles' trail, I run out the door searching for him so we can save Isaac, unless it's too late. I knew I should have left both those idiots in the jeep and did this on my own. All they did was waste time that could have been used to rescue Isaac. Now Isaac can be dead because they wanted to argue about how Derek was going to distract the lady upfront.
"Stiles!" I whisper-yell, trying to figure out where he had gone without drawing attention to myself. He couldn't have gone far, because I was just a few feet behind him.
As I turn a corner, the fire alarm system goes off and instantly I know that it has to be Stiles signaling he's in trouble. That must mean we aren't late to saving Isaac.
I start running down the halls, knowing I'm headed in the right direction when sounds of bodies slamming again metal and yelling begin to get louder.
Entering the room the noises led me to, I see Isaac already in wolf form attacking the man that must have been sent by the Argents. Isaac grabs a hold of the fake deputies arm that holds the syringe full of wolfsbane and snaps it, causing the syringe to roll towards me. Isaac then slams the mans head against the wall knocking him out. Without a second to spare, I stomp on the syringe, breaking it so it can no longer be of use.
At the sound of glass breaking, Isaac's attention turns to me then Stiles, who sits on the other side of the room against the wall.
"Isaac no," I warn him, but he pays me no attention as he inches towards Stiles. Suddenly, with exquisite timing, Derek appears and howls deeply at Isaac with his alpha eyes shining brightly. The room vibrates from the harshness and my eardrums are close to bursting. I flinch at the sound but, keep my stance prepared for anything to go wrong. Like possibly how Derek could cause a commotion and a flood of people will bust through the entrance any moment now to investigate.
Isaac whimpers and falls to the ground, crawling away from us as his body begins to shake with fear.
We all watch Isaac closely as he conceals himself into a ball. When he lifts his head to peek at us, I can see all the fear in his bright blue eyes. Derek's howl must have forced Isaac to transform back into his human self.
Going over to him, I crouch down onto my knees, reaching out to him with caution to try and comfort him. "You're alright, Isaac. No ones going to hurt you anymore," I sooth again and again trying to calm him down and get his body to stop shaking. My fingers gently stroke his curls and he leans against me, placing his head on my shoulder. I wrap my arms around him, feeling responsible to comfort him even with Derek being the one to turn him and be his alpha. I'm not the best at comforting, but I seem to be doing a decent enough job because he shows signs of relaxing.
"How did you do that?" Stiles asks, still in shock by the scene.
"I'm the alpha," Derek replies in his usual cocky way. I refrain from rolling my eyes at such an egotistical response and focus wholly on Isaac.
