Chapter 3: Saving Isaac

Start from the beginning

"Make daddy proud," I hear the coach say to his players. After coming to a few of the practices, I've come to the conclusion that coach Finstock is a very strange man and probably lonely, too.

Coach blows his whistle and tosses the lacrosse ball at the boy first in line, who catches it effortlessly in his net. When he starts to run towards the goal, the goalie starts running towards him and I soon realize that the goalie is Scott McCall.

Derek had caught me up on him the other day. He had stated something about his uncle being an alpha that had been killing people around town, and in the process turned Scott so he would join his pack and help him with his planned massacres. In the end, Derek killed him earning him the alpha status he now occupies.

When Scott catches up to the boy, he wraps his right arm around the boys hip, slamming his body to ground. Gasps are heard everywhere as all eyes focus on Scott, wondering what the hell is wrong with him. I watch closely, wondering what he is doing as well.

After Scott helps the guy he intentionally tackled to the ground back to his feet, I notice him sniffing the guy and my eyes widen as I realize what he is doing. He knows there is another werewolf on the field with him, but he doesn't know who. He's going to smell every guy on this field until he figures out who the other werewolf is.

Coach blows his whistle again, "McCall! Usually the goalie...stays somewhere within the vicinity of the actual goal."

"Yes coach," Scott replies and run back to the goal, but he never actually listened to him. After coach tossed the ball to another player, the same outcome occurred three times. The defender finally gave up and just stood in spot, watching Scott do all the work.

Every time Scott knocked someone down, Isaac would lose more control over himself. I can hear his heart beating faster than humanly possible by the second. Running onto the field to calm him down isn't possible with this big of a crowd, and if I try talking to him he won't be able to hear me since he is still new to his werewolf abilities and too concentrated on Scott.

"McCall!" coach yells again. Even though the situation is bad, I still find coach's outrages amusing. "You come out of that goal one more time, and you'll be doing suicide runs till you die! It'll be the first ever suicide run, that actually ends in a suicide. Got it?"

"Yes coach," Scott agrees again for the fourth time. No coach, he doesn't get it. Coach is obviously on the verge of tackling Scott himself with how irritated he is.

Luckily, Jackson is next. If Scott pulls another one of his stunts again, he won't have a chance at tackling Isaac with coach's threat lingering in the air. He'll be replaced by another player before he can go after Isaac.

"Hey coach, my shoulders hurting, Imma- Imma sit this one out," Jackson then says. I should have known Isaac wouldn't be that lucky.

As Jackass walks off the field, I look at Isaac. His breathing increased by ten and his shoulders visibly move up and down with every breath. Stiles had caught on, too. Realizing it's Isaac that is the other wolf they are searching for and soon Scott realizes it, too once taking his eyes off Jackson and placing them to Isaac.

Coach blows his beloved whistle again and tosses the ball to Isaac. When it lands in his net, he wastes no time in charging towards the goal, along with Scott charging towards Isaac, not caring about coaches threats. They both jump in the air, lunging for each other. When they connect, their bodies twist in mid-air and they land in front of one another on their hands and knees. I can see Isaac's golden eyes from here, which cause me to bolt out of my seat and down the stairs of the bleachers. But before my foot can touch the grass, the sight of policemen walking towards the field stop me. There's nothing I can do now with the sheriff watching. And while everyone around us is confused as to what's happening, I know they are here for Isaac about his father.
