The skies were dark, dark clouds pouring heavy rain onto the earth. The sea was untamed and wild, large waves coming from side to side, front and back, rocking the ship as it tried to keep it steady to sail to the ‘new world’, as the crew on the deck called it. Voyagers from London were set out to find more land to conquer and take, and more gold to find to add to London's wealthiness. They believed that the ‘new world’ they were seeking was filled with gold. They hired a famous voyager as well to deal with the natives, whom they called savages. His name was Jackson Samuels, Jack for short. He was the one dealing with the savages every time the voyagers set out to take over new lands filled with natives. His blonde hair flew in the harsh wind, strands sticking to his face from the rain, as he helped the men release the sails.

Aside from the men up on the posts trying to release the sails, there were other members of the crew on the deck, rushing from place to place to do what they needed to do. They had to secure the canons that were falling out of place because of the tilting of the ship because of the large waves, they had to remove the water that had gotten onboard because of the waves the splashed and managed to reach the deck. There was a skinny lad on deck, a newbie from the looks of it, wearing loose and dark clothes, a beige beanie over his chestnut brown hair. He was tasked to secure one of the canons. He was able to do so if not the rope had been cut from the weight of the canon as the ship tilted to the opposite side. He gasped, trying to put the canon back as he pushed it with all his might, but the canon was too heavy.

“Jack!”, he called. “Get over here! The canon's gone loose!”

Jack looked down onto the deck, spotting the newbie that had yelled over to him, struggling to push the canon back to its place. He yelled back, “Don't worry, Tommy! I'm coming over!”

Jack let the other men release the sails as he used a rope to swing down to the newbie, Tommy, to help him with the canon. With Jack's help, the two males were able to push the canon, but only got so far until the ship rocked again by the waves and Tommy was thrown overboard into the raging seas. The men gasped as they saw the newbie fall into the seas. One of the crew members yelled out, “Man overboard! Change of course! He won't be able to make it!” Jack left the canon and tied the rope loosely around his waist, running across the deck and jumping off into the deep waters before the ship got too far from Tommy or the waves flushed Tommy away. A black-haired acquaintance of Jack yelled out after him, watching him jump straight into the ocean, “Are you crazy, Samuels?!”

Tommy was falling out of conscious, but he struggled to keep awake. Jack swam down to grab Tommy just in time and pull him up. With Tommy secured under his arm, he tried to pull them up the ship, but the waves pushed him back and the rope was no longer around his waist. Jack kept a firm grasp on the rope in his free hand, his other arm adjusting Tommy to a more comfortable position. The black-haired man called over his two friends, a dark blonde and ginger, and told them to help him pull up both Jack and Tommy over the deck. He grasped the rope Jack was holding onto and his friends followed in suit, heaving and pulling the rope until Jack threw Tommy on the deck and threw himself after. Jack was a crazy little bastard, the black-haired man thought.

The men on the post had been able to release the sails finally and the ship was now steady and under control. Both Tommy and Jack huffed and puffed, panting as they laid there, soaked in salt water on the wooden deck. The three other men chuckled and laughed, saying how Tommy was a lucky one and threw him on a jacket. A man wearing velvet then came on to where they were as soon as Jack and Tommy stood. He was a governor that had went along on the voyage. He asked, “What happened?”

“Tommy here had just been thrown overboard, sir. I just rescued him,” Jack said, gesturing to a soaked Tommy wrapped under a blanket.

“Well then, good work in retrieving Tommy,” the governor said before going down to the main deck.

The rain had finally ceased, calming down as the crew gathered around the governor, wondering why he was out in such a weather instead of back inside his quarters, pampering his little pug and planning out how they retrieve the gold and take the land. The governor grinned and told them, “Remember, boys, what you all came here for! To see the new world, and the gold!”

The crew yelled out happily after the governor. The velvet clad man went back to his quarters, his white pug in hand and his servant in yellow clad holding an umbrella over his head. Tommy went back to secure the canon that he had been able to do with the help of Jack. As they smoothly pushed back the canon to it place, tying the ropes around it, Tommy couldn't help but think of al the gold they would have once they got over with taking the ‘new world’. He told Jack, “When I get a lot of that gold, I'm gonna buy a big house for me and my family!”

“Well then, let's leave your thoughts of fortune to later, Tommy. We still have to take on the new world.”, Jack replied, finishing off to tying the canon and heading up the post, climbing up the rope ladder. Tommy followed Jack, thinking what the 'new world' would like.

When they were up the post, he asked, “What do you think the new world would look like?”

“The same as all the other new worlds I've seen. What would make this one any different?”, Jack said, looking off in the distance towards them, silently hoping something different would happen on this voyage. He could feel it right under him. Something was going to be different.
