Hunter watched as the terrifying scene unfolded below him. The others would not be coming, and he was alone as he saw a sight that would haunt him all his life. If he got out alive, that is. Jongs were covering the ground, screaming for revenge and glory, stomping their pseudopods on the ground, and wailing as loud as their throats would let them. Hunter was neatly concealed, hanging onto a granite outcropping about 600 feet above the turmoil. The Jongs had not seen him, but he knew they had excellent hearing and smell, so even unzipping his backpack would be lethal, thanks to their wings. He decided to learn all he could, before he died. He spotted something moving in the center of the horde, and was surprised to see that it was Jornus, a vicious man who was known for his ability to blind others just by looking at you in the eyes. He was wearing a bone necklace, which looked like human teeth on it. Spoils of war, he thought grimly. He wore clothes that looked like they were made out of charred human flesh, which they probably were. Jornus sauntered up to the podium on the side of the wall, directly beneath him. His fingers gave a groan of protest, reminding him he had been hanging there for more than 15 minutes. Hunter suddenly wondered why all the Jongs were not cowering on the ground, feeling around for safety, as many brave souls did when succumbing to the blindness. He then realized that Jornus was wearing sunglasses, the kind that reminds you of staring into the abyss of darkness.
"Hello friends." the dark man said, his voice ringing throughout the half-mile cavern without the use of a megaphone or a microphone. He was not shouting, but talking like a man might talk to his partner about his vacation to Panama. "I'd like to tell everyone how successful this last mission was." He stated, his voice flowing like honey across a knife. He continued to speak, so Hunter decided something risky. If Jornus spoke loud enough, the Jongs wouldn't hear him. He reached up, and ever so slightly, moved the zipper down 2 or 3 notches, which caused a painfully loud "ZIIIIP", but none of the Jongs flew off towards him, or screeched that there was a man hanging on for dear life, or even noticed him, so he went a little farther down, until the backpack was unzipped. He pulled out the Portal Republic Ray Gun, or P.R.R.G., (which, ironically, is the sound it makes) and took aim. A quick blast to the head would be the end of Jornus, even if the Jongs did kill him later. Jornus kept talking, but he did pull out a contraption, and with a start, Hunter realized that it was a portal gun, much like the one we entered this cavern with before that salesman's "Never Ending Batteries" died.
"With this weapon, I will make it possible to be unstoppable!" Jornus was saying, " we will finally be able to get rid of the Portal Republic for good, and then conquer all the dimensions we want!" Hunter took careful aim, glad for his training at the academy, and fired twice. The first shot went off with a "PRRG" and slammed into the portal gun, frying it and rendering it useless. "What in the name of-" but he was never able to finish his curse, for the next one hit directly onto the center of his smooth, black haired head, killing him instantaneously.
The Jongs were all around him, lifting him, yelling at him, enveloping him as Hunter thought I didn't think I'd die like this, oh well... Before settling off into a deep sleep.
