Four Rules

  Imagine living in a world where there are only four rules. Four rules that set your life on the right path. Four districts govern where you live, and in those districts are housed three smaller portions of society. The fire, earth, air, and water districts are all based upon one's elemental ability, not only that, but the Zodiac sign that represents yourself as an individual. There are twelve zodiac signs that separate a person's birth district and where they grow into adulthood. These signs are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces.

Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are all fire elements that live in the fire district Shadowtide. Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn are the earth element people that live in the district Shadespire. The air element people are consisted of Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius which live in the district Clearview. Finally there is the element water which house Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces. They live in Grimpond. The names aren't as drabby as they seem. Shadowtide is located up in the mountains where the snow never touches. The heat produced from the magic that surrounds there melts the snow. Instead they have a steady water source that is crystal clear. Shadespire sits on top of the hilly valley that surrounds the place. The autumn festival is hosted there every year. It is one of the biggest celebrations that all districts attend, no matter the cost. Old artifacts lay around the town. No one is quite sure how they got their.

Clearview is to the right of Shadespire. Grimpond is opposite of Shadespire while Shadowtide is to the right of Grimpond. Clearview is in the green valley. Or that's what everyone calls it anyway. It holds the number one spot for producing green goods. The military base there is the only one around. Recruits from different districts end up there when they need a lesson about staying in line. The diverse population here is one of the few rare ones that are around. Often the districts don't get along because of their elements. That's why the four rules have been put in place to keep everyone safe. It's to keep the elements in check. Often times air doesn't cooperate well with fire. So based upon when you are born, is where you are placed in the zodiac list of twelve.

One of the four rules is that you are only compatible with your own sign, like a Leo and a Leo, or you are compatible with the sign the government assigns you with. There was only one time this rule has ever been broken. Violence is not accepted which is another rule, but in this case, it was. A woman from the district Shadowtide and a man from the district Clearview had been meeting in secret. They eventually conceived a baby girl. The woman had no choice but to give birth at a hospital. The government took the baby away from the parents and shot both of them. Since then no one has broken the law. The law is hard, but it is the law. Even to this day no one has been able to find out what happened to the baby girl. Doctors and several scientists have tried to research and frantically search, but everything lead to a dead end. Eventually they gave up and moved to different matters. That's how the community works here on Earth. Once something has happened for so long everyone decides to give up.
