Many of us probably know the about the Second World War. Adolf Hitler and his Armies of Nazi Germany, Benito Mussolini of Italy and Emperor Hirohito of Japan against the British empire, France, America and Russia. And of course the Holocaust ordered by the Fürer himself. But many people forgot about some of the untold stories that played a role in the war.

The 7th Panzer division of Nazi Germany nicknamed the ghost division because during the invasion of France because neither the Germans nor the French knew where the division was. Well until the division arrived in Paris long before the rest of the German troop.

The 558th night bomber regiment comprised entirely of young woman volunteers in the Soviet Union. These woman each did no less than 800 missions and dropped over 23 000 tons of bombs on the Germans. Nicknamed the Night Witches since they glided their planes with the engines off to avoid being detected. Only making a whooshing sound of broomsticks when they flew over towns.

Lauri Allan Törni later known as Larry Thorne. The man of three armies actually had a interesting story. Fighting against Russia in Finland and during World War Two fought with the Germans feeding them information about the Russians. During the downfall of Nazi Germany he stowed away on a boat heading for the United States. Where even after living trough World War Two died serving the Americans in the Vietnam war. A brave man he was to attempt such a maneuver of changing armies but he succeeded didn't he?

And of course their was that Fin Simo Häyhä. Who struck fear in the hearts of the Russians who nicknamed him the White Death after the snow camouflage he wore. Why was he feared you may ask? Well this was a man who had finished his term of conscription to the Finnish military. When he was called back to help his country after Finland declared war on Russia he re registered as a sniper.

Simo for many nights during the war. Went out in the dead of winter and sniped Russian soldiers with the iron sights of his rifle. Not only did he avoid death on many occasions by killing the counter snipers who were sent out or kill him he also only got caught by one bullet in the jaw only putting him out of action for 2 weeks. By the end of the war he had over 500 kills in his name. The sniper that still holds the record to this day.

Now back to the point of the prologue. Many people today are not aware of the winter war of 1939-1940. This started with the request of large tracks of Finnish land and the removal of the defenses on the border with Russia. The Finnish refused and the Russians invaded. This according to some sources was to eventually take over Finland entirely. With Finland holding the Soviets behind the line for several months that alone should be awarded never mind the casualties the Fins inflicted on them.

This is a kind of story that should have inspired legends but unfortunately the story of this war has been buried under the snow on which the war was fought. Until now, the snow has finally blown away and the story can now be seen.

The book you are about to read may be fictional but the story behind it is so true that you will have to rethink what you knew about the war you though you knew so well.

So we begin a journey through the lives of three children of Scandinavia and how they came to meet not only that but the common enemy they all banded together against in the hope driving them out of a friend's homeland. The acts of a couple of children that ignited the burning fiery passion of a village. But also the sad reality that children in war lose their innocence if they want to or not.

So let us begin shall we.

Norway and Denmark have just been taken by Nazi Germany and a evacuation of the children has begun..........
