The hoverboard smoothly cruised through the trees, the feeling of wind through his platinum blonde hair, amber eyes sharply switching targets through the sharp trees. Kiro looked at his roommate, Landon, as his hoverboard swiftly dodged the bark of a sharp oak.

"Where's the border?" Landon asked, pulling at the gun at the waistband of his pants.

Swiping up to activate the holo-guide on the hoverboard, Kiro ran his fingers through the many apps until opening the map of the Royal Region. He zoomed in at the Konakaze City, the blinking blue lights signifying the trackers placed on the boards. "We're about two miles away," he answered. But there were a bunch of purple dots right behind them, with each blink they got closer.

"Umm..." Landon said, directing his hoverboard so that it was neck-a-neck with Kiro's. "I thought Sarphroids couldn't penetrate the Particle Barrier."

"They're not Sarphroids." Kiro exclaimed in realization. "They're Slyphroids! They penetrated the Particle Barrier but can't get past the Photon Barrier! We have to speed up!"

"They're scattered all around us, Kiro," Landon said. "Once we've been tracked on their thermal sensors they can't lose track."

He cursed slightly underneath his breath, as both he and Landon split a tree. They opened their holo-guides, switched to settings, and clicked on [Speed: High].

The hoverboards sped up almost immediately, hair whipping through the ferocious winds. Their eyes, Extra eyes, were built for these situations. The two Extra's were beginners, not enough experience as Red-Extras or Extraterrestrials. The hex equations formed on the vision of Landon and Kiro, as their legs reacted to the directions the Hex-Vision gave them.

One subtle wrong move could make them crash into a tree easily, but the bionics implanted into their legs made them skillfully change positions that the hex equations gave them in split seconds.

"How are we doing?" Landon yelled over the wind.

Kiro's holo-guide popped up a map, where it showed their two blinking blue dots, with purple dots trailing close behind them, and red dots in front of the barrier.

"Bad news, man," Kiro sighed. "There's Sarphroids at the barrier and Slyphroids at our tails."

"Crap."

"I guess we have no choice." He took the gun from his belt, as the reflective surface of the particle barrier approached them. He jumped a quarter turn, his back now to Landon, and pulled the trigger, a plasma bullet than shooting towards a purple dot's direction at sound speed.

"Cover me!" Kiro ordered, as Landon nodded in response. Shots of scarlet-red plasma were flying through the air, and every split second interval Kiro would look back at the holo-guide's map. Each time, a bullet was fired, the numbers of Slyphroids would decrease.

"Up ahead!" Landon warned, as Kiro immediately holstered the gun, crashing through the barrier. The Slyphroids immediately followed.

The two entered the barren place of the Royal Region, their boards skimming over slight green grass, tipped with black ashes. The cities were protected by Particle and Photon barriers, but the empty regions were war zones, often scattered by not only Slyphroids and Sarphroids, but even minions, guards and warriors belonging to the Black Ash.

"They're above us!" Landon yelled, as Kiro looked up, seeing the Sarphroids flying down, mechanical-blade like wings spread out. They were a mix of harpies, humans and robots, they're advanced technology taking down many civilizations before, during the invasion.

"Damnit," Kiro sighed.

Their speed increased, as the hex equations faded and their vision returned to normal. Still, the androids were on their tail. Their hands formed into sharp axes, blades gleaming, while others equipped bullet guns.

"Oh god," Kiro said, eyes wide at the sight.

The ones with axes increased their speed, enough that they were simply feet away from their boards. Some didn't caution, and swoop down to try and decapitate them, metal blades flashing.

"Kiro, look out!"

A Slyphroid swung its axe, just as Kiro skillfully dodged it. But he didn't have much time, as three bullets were fired at him. Two struck him in the shoulder.

"Agh!" He yelled, falling to a knee, which resulted in him nearly falling off the board.

"Kiro!"

The hoverboards slowed, as the Slyphroids and Sarphroids took the opening and charged. Battle axes flashing, they started to advance...

Skreeeee!

A loud high-pitched noise filled their ears, as the androids fell, systems disabled.

"Idiots," a voice grumbled, as another Extra's hoverboard cruised over to them. She looked at who she'd saved. "Kiro? Landon?!"

"Hey..." Landon smiled sheepishly, looking at the girl.

"Not to sound ungrateful, but, what are you doing here?"

Ayuka Udar, their savior, flipped her hair out of her face. "I was coming back from a mission."

She showed them a blinking red sphere the size of a marble, and printed her thumb on it's surface. Once more, the sonic noise emitted from it. "It's a Sonic Amplifier Block," she said. "It stops a spire from controlling the androids within a forty mile radius. But only for fifteen minutes."

Ayuka looked at their current mess, twigs sticking up in random places in their clothes, which were slightly torn and very wrinkled from the wind. Kiro's shoulder had a hole, where the bullet had shot him.

"Okay," she sighed. "I'm not gonna ask. Let's just get back to camp."
