Ostensible Identity

Hi my lovely readers this is my first book and i really do hope you will enjoy. I have not fully edited the book so in case you find any errors be free to point out. Also constructive criticism is welcome though don't be too harsh this is my baby. Also the pictures and videos are not mine though they help you get a visual to my thoughts and ideas. So thanks for choosing to read my book. Enjoy.

Also I was to write of places that were imaginary but decided to use actual places but changed the environment abit to fit into my imagination. If you notice something that doesn't add up please let me know.

Shannon a twenty four year old was coming out of the shopping mall when Mr. Kierans car ran over her. Before keeling over, the face of the man who was instructing two people to carry her rang a bell in her fuzzy brain . Waking up, the man was hovering over her looking worried. A relieved expression etched the mans face when he noticed her eyelids flutter and he called for the doctor. A few minutes later the doctor appeared at the door and all leave so he could examine her.

The doctor gave her painkillers then said, "This will ease the soreness, you are lucky it is just two broken bones and a few bruises. It was really nice Mr. Kieran was such a gentleman and he brought you here instead of leaving you on the road." She took the pills and thanked the doctor. Just then her brain clicked this was the man they had been trying to get close to so that they could investigate his son; Jason.

When the man entered he was smiling and introduced himself and asked her what her name was. "I'm Shannon, Shannon Alarcon," she said. "Young girl it is not very advisable to walk without any kind of identification. What if something bad happened to you and we needed to contact your family?" he said politely. She explained that her father had passed away when she was a kid and her mother was very sick in an asylum in another state. Not seeing the need to carry an identity because she had just stepped out to buy some groceries just a few blocks.

He had nodded in understanding and then wrote something on a piece of paper and gave his bodyguard. They talked for some time and he had discovered she needed a job and had done secretarial course and business management. Since the Kieran's Tech company needed a secretary he requested her to write a resume when she was well enough.

He requested her to keep the incident to herself because he did not wish to face negative publicity. Understanding his position in the matter she nodded in understanding. He informed her about a nurse who was to attend to her twenty four hours till she was able to go back home. Then at home he would offer a maid to help but she declined the offer. He insisted but they got to an agreement that a medical nurse would be okay for a few days until she could move around.

Before walking out she requested for her purse which he gave to her, said goodbye and walked out. After making sure that they had all gone she took her phone which had gone off because of the impact. It looked like normal phones but it was a military grade phone. Texted her boss, I had a run in with Mr. Kieran and I'm in hospital. I will contact you on any development. Also please write me a resume and deliver it to me through somebody you trust."
She then settled back in bed and started wondering, what would I be doing all day in bed. I'm used to a life full of action." After around one hour a young man came with a paper bag with three novels. He stated that Mr. Kieran had sent them for her. She smiled because she knew if he had done some digging in he would have found a story about her life but with afew twists."

She thanked the man and took out one novel and it had a price sticker on. The man then excused himself. Eagerly, Shannon settled into reading the novel. It turned out to be very interesting and capturing. She did not even realize it was dinner time, it was a surprise when the nurse came and announced dinner was ready. She was given mashed potatoes, peas and cabbage on the side.
This was not exactly her kind of food but she was very hungry and ate without complaint. When the nurse did her rounds, was happy to see an empty plate. The following day during lunch break Mr. Kieran came to visit her and found some ill cooked rice with lettuce on the side with a glass of water on her table. He gave her some strawberry yogurt her favorite.
