Byron when he was practicing fighting off anyone from his little sister. He didn't like the thought of anyone near his little sister that he didn't know or trust. He was talking about it to Joe knowing that Joe liked you a lot. Joe didn't think that Byron would allow the pair of you to be together but as long as Joe didn't hurt you, Byron was all for having his sister and his roommate together. The idea of fighting them off was to see exactly how determined Joe was to get with you. If Joe was put off by Byron then Byron wouldn't allow you to be together.
"Byron, you can't put me off of your sister by saying you'll fight anyone off !"
