Prologue;
Sitting at the desk and tapping my feet, I was getting impatient. I knew that I wasn’t going to get the call. I would never get the call. I wasn’t good enough. My past didn’t help it.
Carmen, they don’t know about your past.
Carmen, you’ll get the job.
I was a little more worried about this summer though. I was going on vacation to England. Spending time with my cousin would help. My counselor told me.
I really didn’t want to go through with the idea. Ya, another dumb summer love story. Oh joy, right?
“Hello?” I picked up the phone as soon as it rang.
“You didn’t get the job. Because of your past,” A wicked laugh filled the phone.
I shot up out of my bed, sweating badly. It was just a dream. Well, the going to England wasn’t though. I wish it was.
Ah, who am I kidding? Hopefully, it will be the best summer of my life.
