How it began

I hold no one accountable for what happens  in this story. Partially because we we're in kindergarden but also because the "antagonist" in this story had a valid reason of doing what they did.

It was recess time at my old elementary school, and everyone was racing out of the building. No one looking back as they soar into the  field or the playground. My best friend at the time was doing their normal walk around the field.

"Hi!" I beam.

They give me a nod as they continue to walk.  Something was wrong.

"Is everything okay?" I ask concerned about my friend.

They look up and tap me on the shoulder.

"Tag your it."

We race around the field for what seems like hours even though only 10 minutes have passed until someone came up to my friend.

I see them glance at me and back at my friend, and they whisper to my friend and walk away to the playground.  My friend walks up to me stating they have to go talk with the other person.

"Ok.. I'll be over here."

They run over to the playground and being the annoying friend I am wait 2 second before following them.

Im just gonna preface this by saying I considered the "antagonist" a friend of mine. So what happens next comes as a shock.

They're both sitting on a little bridge connecting the two parts of the jungle gym. I hear the person tell my friend this.

" I know he is your *finger quotes* best friend, but I really think you should be spending more time with me."

I know right now this does not seem like a huge deal but imagine this. Imagine being a fragile 5 year old standing in front of your best friend who is being told not to hang out with you. It was traumatizing.

I run away crying  and my friend runs after me. They tell me that they'd never do that and they kept their promise.

I am still now good friends now with that person (The best friend not the other one). That experience was major enough to birth my trust issues. it also brought my self confidence down.

End of story 1.
