You'd think that after moving schools five times I'd be used to the new kid thing, but nope. Every time leaves me just as nervous. The teachers, the classes and worst of all the students.
I usually try to change one thing about me every time I move. My hair, style, attitude...one time even my accent. Yep, my accent. I was in grade 7 and I decided that I wanted to be British so for a whole month when I only talked in a British accent, and everyone believed me until parent teacher night ... totally backfired.
So your probably wondering what I decided to change this year, right? Well the answer is nothing because I already have changed since last year.
This summer I spent with My Aunt Joy in Miami. All I was expecting to find was a good sunny spot to read and get a killer tan. But that all changed on the second week I was there.
*flashback*
As I laid on the towel with my face feeling the warmth from the sun I could feel myself drifting off to sleep until somehow my sun got cold. Wait why is my sun cold, it must just be a cloud.
Well might as well just continuing trying to nap until it moves.
"Um,Um...excuse me?"
What? did that cloud just talk to me? Oh wait, that probably means its a human.
As I open my eyes I'm greeted by a silhouette of what seems to be a very attractive man.I sit up so that I can get a better look and whoever is interrupting my oncoming slumber.
Wow, thats all I can think, wow. This Man or boy , i don't know. This teenage boy standing in front of me with dashing blue eyes and dirty blonde hair has just stolen my heart.
"Excuse me, are you okay?"
Oh no, I've just been starring at him. Say something Grace...Say something.
" Um ....h-hi." I stutter.
" Hey." he chuckles as he replies.
"How may I help you ?" I say trying to sound as confident as possible but I totally fail.
"Oh , well I'm Thomas but you can call me Tommy. I noticed you when I was standing over there on the porch of my cottage and I thought that I just had to meet this beautiful angel or I just might die." He says while rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
"Well, um nice to meet you Tommy . I'm Grace."
*flashback over*
After spending the summer with Tommy I can say I've definitely changed. I did things I never thought I would be able to do and he was amazing but the summer so quickly went away. Snatched out of my hands like a child with their toy.
So now , I'm going to start this school year differently then the rest . Because I 'm different. I don't want to be invisible, not this year.
"Grace, Grace ?!? Darling are you ready to go? You wouldn't want to be late on your very first day." My mother calls from the kitchen.
" Yeah, I'm ready mom just give me a minute."
As I look my self up and down one last time, My white vans, blue sundress, and white cardigan and my hair gently waved reaching the middle of my back... well this will have to do.
I walk out to the kitchen and I see my mother putting peanut butter on to a bagel.
" Oh honey don't you just look absolutely adorable." My mom says while putting a hand over her heart.
