Y/N = Your Name

A short huff left your warm lips, eyes darting around at the people around you. Your toes dug into the sand as you waited for something. Or, well, someone. Your eyes followed a small child being chased by her elder brother into the ocean, the pair of them then both trying to jump over the waves as they crashed into the shore. You couldn't help but smile at their joy, almost missing the call from your cell phone.

"Hello?" You answered, not bothering to check the I.D.

"(Y/N)? It's me. . ." You couldn't help but sigh as you recognized the voice.

"Jaime," you said, unable to help but smile as you said his name. "Where are you? I've been waiting for almost three-quarters of an hour now."

"I know, I know. And I'm so sorry, but I was asked to watch the neighbors kids because they're on a business trip for the evening," Jaime explained, sadness evident in his voice.

You let out a small 'oh', before sighing, "it's okay, Jaime. How about I come over and-"

"Uh, that's actually a bit of a bad idea. T-the neighbors said they didn't want me to bring people over that they don't know." You fell quiet for a moment, not wanting Jaime to be aware of your silent disappointment of Jaime missing out on another one of the dates he had set up. "Can we postpone to next weekend?"

You forced a smile on your face, shaking your head to rid of the negative thoughts. "O-of course, babe."

"Oh, my gosh," Jaime let out an overexaggerated breath of relief, a smile clear in his voice. "Thank you so much, babe. I promise I won't let you down."

And with that, you hung up the phone.

Unfortunately, you didn't get to see him at the beach again the weekend next.

"I don't know if I'm doing something wrong," you said with a hint of sadness and annoyance in your voice, sitting down next to Tye with your lunch tray. Picking up the plastic fork you only pushed the cheap food around on the plate.

"And what makes you think that?" Tye asked, staring down at his phone.

"It just feels that no matter how many chances I give him, he denies them like their nothing." Rolling his eyes, Tye dragged his eyes from his phone to you, looking at you like you said the stupidest thing. You rolled your eyes in return, shoving his shoulder. "Don't look at me like that," you said with a small smile.

"Well, if you want to talk to him about it," Tye began, "you could start now - considering he's walking towards us right now."

"Talk to me about what?" Jaime said as he sat down, his tray slapping against the table and slipping his bag off his shoulders.

Tye raised a brow. "About how you keep blowing off-"

"-homework!" You butted in quickly, letting out an awkward laugh. "Y-you haven't been handing things on time to chemistry lately."
