"Promise me that you won't love me." I whispered jerking his arm away, "I pormise, just promise me you will try to love me." He stammered, backing a few inches into the trees. "I promis."
Laney has had a hard life; the stress of her parent's divorcing and denying her as their own and, her abusive older brother Conner who she is forced to live with which constantly orders her around. Finally one night Conner takes things too far, making her run off into the Woods, that is where she finds Him, Eyeless Jack. The boy who, as growing up, Laney was obsessed with. Though after years of unable to find hm she assumed was a fake. Yet, when they meet, she never had thought of him trying to kill her.
As he held her up against the tree ready to slice her stomach, he realizes he can't finish her off, something about her made his actions stiff.
"Who are you?" He asked. "No one important." I replied shifting to get a better view of him. "You have to be." he whispered, "Why else can't I kill you?"
