I've never had a dream about Xavier, he and I in a lovey-dovey moment. Suddenly, a saddening thought hit me. What if he doesn't really like me that way? He probably wouldn't, since we kind of just became friends, kind of. But, that kiss he gave me before going to bed, the way he would look in my direction. It made me smile, thinking of how he would blush when he would realized I caught him staring at me. There's going to be a moment, in time, when I'll have to make a decision. Who would it be? Alex or Xavier? I frowned a bit at thinking that I would have to make that decision. C'mon, I'm only thirteen! How can I make that decision, a decision about relationships? I thought for a moment. I could ask Da- wait, no, he would get over-protective again. Mom? Hmm, well, I don't know how to contact her, really. Let's see, who else? Aphrodite! The goddess of love! But wait, how do I contact her? Well, I did make a new friend today with a daughter of Aphrodite, who's not too girlie but still nice and an awesome fighter. I shook my head. I can't believe I'mactaully trying to decide now! Dad would freak if there's a little love-story going on between me and two boys! Suddenly, a bright light went off behind me. I shielded my eyes and turned. When the brightness dimmed down to normal, I saw a woman with dark brown, straight hair and brown brown eyes, a smile playing across her lips. I felt my lips shape into a grin.
"Mom!" I said excitedly, jumping up and embracing her.
"Shh, sweetie. You might wake Xavier and the others up," whispered Mom. I looked around and found that everyone else was turning or moving a bit. Xavier nearly fell out of bed. I heard my mother chuckle a bit as we walked outside. We stopped at Canoe Lake, sitting at the edge of the water. At first, an eerie silence went across the both of us.
"So, what brought you here?" I asked, breaking the silence.
"Oh, I don't know. I just wanted to visit my favorite daughter," she replied, smiling. I smiled back, something at the back of my head saying that I had to do something. Something that involves a bracelet. . . I quickly stood up and checked my wrist. It wasn't there. Panic filled within me. Then I remembered that I took it off and kept in in my jewelry box, locked away with a key that I keep on my necklace. Mom looked at me oddly. "Is there something wrong?" she asked in her gentle, soft voice. I shook my head, smiling.
"Nothing. I'll be right back." Mom nodded and I jogged back to my cabin, fidgeting with my necklace to get the key out. I unlocked my jewelry box, filled with pictures of me and my friends, and pictures of my Dad. There was also a picture of Alex and I together at the beach, him giving me a piggy-back ride. I smiled before grabbing the bracelet and locking my jewelry box again. I jogged back to the lake and cupped the bracelet in my hands, grinning. Mom looked at me oddly.
"What's that?" she asked. I grinned from ear to ear.
"Dad told me to give this to you," I said, handing her the bracelet. She looked at the silver locket, bewildered. Without a word, Mom took a golden heart key from her necklace, which I haven't seen before, and unlocked the locket of the bracelet. She opened it slowly and I saw glowing picture of them in each others arms appeared. It was kind of like a mini slide show. So many pictures of Mom and Dad, I thought. I finally got a good look of the pictures. Mom and Dad at probably age 15 or 16, hugging each other. There was one where Mom was upside down in a tree while Dad was laughing, leaning against the trunk. One of my favorites was one where Mom and Dad were smiling and staring into each other's eyes. You could just see how in love they were. I saw a tear drop from Mom's eyes when I looked up. Only then did I realize that she still loved Dad. She flipped the locket around and there was something engraved on the back. It read, 'Jazzy, I have never forgotten you, not once. I love, forever and always.' I nearly teared up myself. I watched as Mom enveloped the locket in her hands and hold it close to her, as if it were to fly away at any moment. Mom began to quietly sob. She looked up at me and embraced me. She leaned back, just enough to see my face, and touched my cheek.
"You have your fathers smile," commented Mom. I smiled more. "And thank you so much for giving this to me, sweetie." Suddenly, we heard thunder and lightning erupted. Mom sighed. "I must go now. Zeus is calling. Farewell, darling. I love you!" With that, I turned away just in time before Mom turned into her true form. When she was gone, I walked back to my cabin, very tired. I sat on my bed and slumped down. I still need an answer for Xavier and Alex, I thought to myself, but I shook my head. Don't think about that now. I need at least some rest. I closed my eyes and fell under a peaceful, dreamless sleep.
