between soft flakes i see her,

again.

sharp eyes cutting through frozen air,

breath visible in foggy puffs

curling up towards the sky like

cigarette smoke at the corner of the bar.

haze diffusing the glow of neon lights,

blood red lips and blood red nails,

dress tightly hugging a deadly frame,

sharp eyes locking on mine

again.

watching carefully like

a predator studying my every move,

trapping me in a web of careful lies,

partial to my every whisper.

her calculated movements like

a dancer balancing en pointe

again.

grace masking strength,

beauty hiding pain,

floating off the stage like,

sharp eyes fading away,

again.

and though i call out her name,

she slips between my fingers,

leaving me

again

alone in the snow.
