"Whatever. Who gives a klunk about all that?" Minho said, his hands on his hips, "Just get on with the escape already."
Thomas looked so relieved I was almost worried he'd fall over out. He remained standing, however, and said, "There's a computer station in a place w've never looked before. The code will open a door for us to get out of the Maze. It also shuts down the Grievers so they can't follow us- if we can just survive long enough to get to that point."
Where hadn't we looked? We'd looked everywhere, hadn't we? I opened my mouth to say so, but Alby beat me to it.
"A place we've never looked before?" he burst out, "What do you think we've been doing for two years?"
"Trust me, you've never been to this spot."
Just spit it out already! I wanted to yell.
Minho stood up. "Well, where is it?" he snapped.
"It's almost suicide." Thomas said, looking grim, "The Grievers will come after us whenever we try to do it. All of them. It's the final test."
"So where is it?" I said. Where was this spot? If Tommy didn't stop beating around the bush, I might break something.
"Over the Cliff," he answered, and I felt my heart almost stop. "We have to go through the Griever Hole."
Nick. Nick had been right to think of it as an exit. That's why he'd been killed. The Grievers must have converged on him.
The knot in my throat threatened to choke me.
Alby stood up suddenly, his chair falling backwards with a crash. "Now you're a shuck idiot. Or a traitor," he growled, glaring at Thomas, "How can we trust a word you say if you helped design this place, put us here! We can't handle one Griever on our own ground, much less fight a whole horde of them in their little hole. What are you really up to?"
I stared between Alby and Thomas in shock. What?
