Joshua's POV

After being stuck at the airport for an extra 2 hours, sitting on a plane with an annoying 4-year-old boy on my left for 8 hours and 24 minutes, I finally made it.

It was 5:37 pm and I was fucking tired.

I'm in fucking London and I am so excited to be here, away from school, away from Millville and most importantly, away from fucking Rachel.

When I walked through the arrival gates of on Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport, all I can see is people from around the world experiencing the adrenaline and excitement that I am. And it felt fucking good.

I looked around to find my mum's friend but she didn't tell me what she looked like. BUt then I saw a sign with my name on it and I assumed it was her.

I walked towards a mixed raced, 41 year-old woman with green eyes and short black, curly hair.

"Hi, you must be Joshua," her voice was sweet and welcoming. "I'm your mother's friend, Maria Marques. But you can call me Maria."

We shook hands and exchanged smiles.

After our little greeting, we walked towards the car park and when we approached a red Vauxhall, I placed my suitcase on the boot, went to the passenger's seat and we were on our way.

The first 10 minutes of the car ride was quiet and awkward. I was taring out the window taking on the beautiful scenery of London.

"How was your flight?" Maria finally broke the silence.

"It was tiring and uncomfortable," I started "I was sitting next to a 4-year-old boy that wouldn't stop jumping and asking me to play." I kinda wanted to throw him out the plane.

"Yeah, i know that feeling. Travelling with children is stressful." she agreed.

"How do you know my mother?" How DID she know my mum? I really wanted to know.

"Oh, your mum and I met when we were 18. I was backpacking around USA and I met your mum in Texas. She offered me to stay with her and her parents for as long as I wanted but I also worked for her parents as a housekeeper." We they go way back.

"So you guys were close?" I asked.

"Were? We still are. We email each other everyday updating our lives." She smiled, she's really nice. I can see why my mum recommended me to stay with Maria.

"You obviously don't remember me, but I was still living with your mum until you were 2 months old and I was there when your mother gave birth to you. I'm actually your god mother." Wow, she's my godmother? I can see why.

"She talks about you alot, great things about you. Like your cooking, personality and hospitality. Thank you so much for letting me stay with you." I thanked her with appreciation.

"Please, Joshua, you're more than welcome. After this trip, whenever you want to come back to London, just give me a call and we can organise something." She said with a smile. Sh's always smiling. It shows what a happy person she is.

Maria turned on the radio and a girl was singing but i never heard of her.

"Whose this? She sounds great!" I said

"Oh that's Emeli Sandé, she's a British singer. And that song is called 'My Kind of Love'" Maria explained.

I turned to the window for a second an I noticed we were going over London Bridge and I was in awe with the view and the song.
