It was a usual morning, with the usual chirping of birds and the usual crinkling of leaves. But yet there was something unusual about today, at least for Sophie, or like her twin sister used to call her, Soph.

The gentle wind blew her chocolate brown hairs, calming her nerves as she continued walking on the unfamiliar pathway. Her heart was beating rapidly and the heart beats were very much audible in the quiet atmosphere. Her shoulder length hairs framed her pale face and the bags under her eyes were visible, due to lack of sleep, or was it because of the nightmares she was experiencing from the last ten months?

She pulled her hands under the sleeves of her sweater and crossed them over her chest to avoid the early chill weather. The pain was very much for her to handle, but last night, it became unbearable. Last night, she cried her heart out for the first time in the last ten months, making her eyes red and puffy but she couldn't care less.

Over the time, she had tried everything she can think of, to get rid of the immense pain. But, even the magical world of alcohol and drugs didn't seem to ease anything for her. It was getting worse day by day. And the last night's emotional breakdown made it pretty clear. But she knew that she can't live like that anymore. She wouldn't want her to live her life in such manner. And that it has to stop.

It was the first time she was going to visit her ever since the day she left her all alone, forever, leaving behind just the memories of her. The grief of losing her ate Sophie from inside out and made her hollow.

The walk to her destination seemed shorter than it really was and before she knew it, the old and rusty iron gate of the graveyard was infront of her. With all her might, she pushed open the gate and went inside after taking a long deep breath. Path to that particular grave was all too unfamiliar for her but she wasn't going to back out this time. It needs to be done.

She walked down to the grave with her sister's name carved upon the headstone and gently placed a white tulip on it. Today was not any random day, it was her sister's birthday and the first ever birthday when she wasn't there with her.

The tears clouding her eyes throughout the whole walk, finally rolled down her cheeks and she whispered a small 'Happy birthday' to her sister's grave. It wasn't at all easy for her. How could it be? How could someone let go the best thing ever happened in their life? The thing is, they can't. Of course, they too had their moments of silly fights, but who doesn't? That didn't make it any easier.

They were like any other twin siblings, bickering most of the time but always there for each other in times of need.

It's funny how someone's absence can change your entire life in just a matter of time. Just like the loss of her sister changed her, entirely. She wasn't the same person anymore and will never be again. The bubbly, fun loving side of hers was now buried under the pile of grief and sorrow.

The memories of the times they spent together flood back to her and she couldn't resist the smile spreading on her face. A genuine smile after a very long while. It was as if she was reliving those moments again. Like this one time, they were fighting over the last slice of pizza, resulting in a full blown food fight in the school cafeteria and after that, a detention of two full weeks. As stupid as these fights were, they were the only things now she was holding onto.

After almost 2 hours of one sided talking, she felt in peace. It was a feeling of being home again, like a huge burden was off of her shoulders. She told her about anything and everything happened in her life ever since the unfortunate day. She was beginning to feel more like herself.

The sun was, now, set high up in the sky, radiating its rays and indicating that it was time for her to leave. But this time, she made a promise to herself to visit more often.

Sophie stood up from the ground, dusting her clothes in the process. She breathed out a 'Good bye' and took a step back from the grave, turning around to leave. Walking out of the graveyard, there was a smile on her face that she wasn't planning to lose anytime soon.

For it was time to embrace her new life. For it was time to move on. For it was time to let her go.
