Rain drops pattered against the windowpane as Lillian thumbed through one of the book that Mia had so lovingly brought her. Mia was Lillian's saving grace for sanity. She had yet been given full reign to walk freely about the compound, resulting in Mia practically living in her room.

"Hey!" A scream poured from Lillian's throat as she clutched her chest, wielding the book above her head, ready to strike.

"Mia! I've told you a thousand times already! Don't scare me like that!"

The giggle red-head rested her chin on the bed, giving Lillian the puppy-dog eyes, the ones Lillian learned she was helpless against.

"Mia, how old are you?" The question rolled out of Lillian's mouth without warrant.
Mia had been folding some of the clothing that they had bought, but her movements hesitated.

"I was just asking because I never thought to ask you with just so much going on." Lillian smiled softly at Mia but the look on her face was disconcerting. Her complexion paling as her skin became clammy.

"Are you okay? Did I say something wrong?" Lillian reached out to touch Mia's shoulder, but at the last moment she flinched away. Pulling her hand back she started to go over everything that has happened in the last two days. Lillian's mind was going ninety to nothing, playing over everything that she had been told the last few days, something wasn't right.

As Lillian sat trying to figure everything out, Mia had gotten up and was facing her, speaking to her but she wasn't paying attention. Mia gave her a weak smile while addressing her again.

"Lillian, there is so much that you don't know yet. Not everything is as it seems." Mia took Lillian's hands in hers and giving them a firm squeeze before letting go and leaving the bedroom.

Starring in her wake, Lillian started to go over everything that Roman and Mia had told her the last few days. Looking at everything from the outside it seemed to fit all together. But upon closer scrutiny she started to see the creaks in the story that they had told. Lillian's hand moved to rub at the center of her chest, a movement that had become part of her everyday life in the effort to try and quell the stabbing like pain.

Placing her forgotten book on the bed, she stood up heading for the door. Anytime she moved closer to the door the pain would lessen, assuming the movement loosened what ever was causing the pain. Opening the door, the popped her head out, looking both ways assessing that no one was occupying the hallway. Exiting the room, Lillian took a right heading for Mia's room, one of the few that she could visit on her own.

Going down the winding hallways of the compound she passed by countless inhabitants. No one made a move to come to her and speak, she had the feeling that everyone here was afraid of her. Lillian had no standing to make that observation, but it was just one of those feelings. Turning right heading down another hallway she saw the door to Mia's room open, the ever glaring Mayken exiting. As usual since she had met him, he glared and turned his nose up, walking passed her as if I didn't exist.

Lillian looked at the closed door, wondering why Mayken was in her room, closing her eyes, she tried to focus and remember, but her concentration was broken as the stabbing pain became worse. The pain becoming annoying as it became pulsing. Stepping back from the door she made to move back the way she came, stopping when the stabbing pain came back with a vengeance making her jolt forward in an attempt to alleviate the pain.

Walking down the hallway, she felt the pain turn to pulsing , lessening the further she walked. The pulsating pull of it led her to a door. Touching the dark cool wood of the door, the pull the energy was almost becoming unbearable.

Grasping and turning the door knob, Lillian took in a deep breath ready to face whatever was on the other side. Holding her breath; she flung the door open wide, but she was not prepared. With a sharp exhale, she was frozen into place. Before her eyes was a man that couldn't have been more perfect in looks, even if she had created him herself.

With a body that rivaled the Greek Gods, he was chiseled in hard sinew like thick cables. He was clothed in nothing but tattered shorts that only covered the necessary areas from probing eyes, leaving his chest bare. The muscles in his chest, arms, and legs were bulging with the effort she was sure he was expending trying to remain standing. His face was what made it hard to breath. Perfectly masculine with firm squared jaw and a nose that must have been broken on more than one occasion, but the planes of his face were twisted in a feral sneer. Caramel colored eyes flaring with hatred staring her down.

Trying to swallow the lump that was in her throat, Lillian was finally able to see that he was being restrained. The shackles made all his limbs stay spread wide, with no room to maneuver in this way or that. He was completely immobile. He was staring as hard at her as she was staring at him, although she wasn't sure whether it was for the same reasoning. Looking around the dimly lit chamber she realized that he must be a prisoner for him to be locked down here.

Squinting around the room she could see nothing but filth on the ground and what looked like dried blood beneath him. The shackles whined as he made a weak attempt of a lunge towards her. He looked like he was going mad with just her presence, he continued to growl and pull at his restraints like a wild animal. Taking a step towards him she called out to him to know that she wasn't there to harm him. Gauging from his reaction, she knew he was beyond being called back from this insanity.

Standing mere inches from him, Lillian reached out and placed her palm on the side of his straining face. His wild eyes seemed to clear as the seconds passed, the feral look of his face slowly receding. His growls turning into huffs of air as he calmed down. Without the anger in his face she could truly see the masculine beauty of this man. His eyes roamed all over her body looking for something, seeming satisfied he pierced her with his burning gaze.

"Did they touch you in any way?" The question flowed from his mouth with little effort, it took a moment to realize he had spoken in a gruff language that she shouldn't understand. She tilted her head to the side trying to decipher what it was he spoke. His deep commanding voice made it hard to grasp the individual words spoken, they just seemed to merge together.

"I'm sorry?" His face moved mere centimeters from in front of hers. He was so close, she could feel every breath that he took. Lillian moved her hand from his face and reached towards the shackles on his left arm, determined to set him free.

"Lillian! Stop!"
