The Words I Read

I sit ignoring

The constant

Pit-pat

Tip-tapping

I drowned your voice and their whispers

In my rounded eyes I read

The letters, the words, sprawled and scripted

The loops and curls of simple letters

They wrap and twirl

Distorting my world

You no longer lecture and they no longer be

For I am not there, you don't see what I see.

In a land far far away

Painted faces and crumbling castles

Oh, if only i could stay

Without all the bumps and hassles

Of the true world, the one we know.

For reality couldn't and can't be

As beautiful as the words across my page

The page that I read.
