[ A/N: Ffffuking why am I such trash.... ;-; Am I the only one who liked Cop Rick? It was certainly interesting to see the roles switch and have Rick be the morally right one rather than Morty =ヮ= Also, shitty title, who the fuck cares. And spoilers. Yeah. Requests are always open but I'll probably only do the ones I like •3•; ]

"Rick, wait...!" You laughed lightly, pulling the former scientist back from the door. You admit that Rick's eagerness was kind of cute but he'll get hurt if he rushes this fast. "W-w-what is it?" He raised half of his unibrow at you quizzically as you fixed his tie and folded down the collar of his shirt. "Be safe on your first day," you smiled warmly at him before sending him off with a light peck on the cheek. "Thanks, [Y/N]." He returned your smile as he headed out the door.

Internally, you worried for him. Your Rick was a bit... kinder than the other Ricks. He cared more for his Morty and you could tell he was pretty shaken when he lost him. Even when you tried to comfort him, you understood that it's impossible to completely replace a Rick's original Morty, despite how frequently the Citadel does it. You hoped he would be alright on his first day as a cop... He had been putting off getting a new Morty but you knew that it wouldn't be long until he ran into another one. It's just how things worked.

Thankfully, the apartment the two of you now shared wasn't damaged by the collision with the Galactic Federal Prison a short while back. You made a beeline for the kitchen and cleaned up the remains of breakfast before deciding to watch some TV. Citadel Morning News talked about nothing else but the election as usual so you switched to Ball Fondlers instead. You were already caught up with all the seasons but it was nice to rewatch some of the older episodes just for fun.

Eventually a commercial for Real Fake Doors came on and you decided it was time to stop for the day. You took a shower and got ready for work, grabbing your keys before leaving the apartment. The streets were crowded with Ricks and Mortys, some without the other. Turning the corner of a street, you pushed open two glass doors and entered the café you worked at.

The ringing of a bell announced your arrival and you swiftly tied up your hair [ if you have short hair, ignore this ;3; ] as you made your way behind the counter where another [Y/N] was working. She looked nearly identical to you aside from the differently pigmented skin and two horns curling around behind her ears from on top of her head.

"Hey, [Y/N]," she greeted, waving a pinkish hand at you. You returned her wave and smiled, "Hey, Pink." In order to avoid confusion, she had agreed to be given a nickname. "How's your Rick doing?" Pink had lost her Rick during the collapse of the Citadel so you made sure to be understanding. "He's starting his first day today," you chirped, "He's worked hard so I'm sure he'll do well." This was more to reassure yourself rather than anybody else but you managed to make it sound otherwise. Before the two of you could continue your conversation, a Rick entered the café in a suit and briefcase, looking to be in a hurry. You quickly got to taking his order while Pink started up the coffee maker.

You heaved out a sigh as you closed the door to your apartment, dropping the plastic bag of groceries on the kitchen counter and deciding you'd put them away later. You felt exhausted from work but tried not to let it get to you too much. You knew Rick must have been working harder and you were thankful he was your Rick and not some other [Y/N]'s.

You took a warm shower to relax your muscles before preparing a light dinner for yourself plus a meal for Rick when he got back. You didn't want to go to bed without him so you stayed up, sitting at the small dining table with a cup of [tea/coffee] to keep you from falling asleep.

You jumped awake at the sound of keys hitting the wood of the door as Rick entered the dimly lit apartment. He attempted to close the door as quietly as possible before leaning against it with an exhausted sigh, not yet aware of your presence. Your tea was now cold in your hands and you placed it down on the table before getting up. "Rick, you're home," you stood up, smiling softly. Rick noticed the forming rings under your eyes from having stayed up for him, causing his unibrow to furrow worriedly. "[Y/N], sweetie, y-you didn't have to stay up for me..." he burped.

You walked up to him and he gladly embraced you in a warm hug, your presence washing away all his nerves from the day's events. "How was your first day?" You muttered, now worried as you noticed the bloodied bandage around his shoulder and the slight chafing around his wrists. A look of guilt crossed his features and instead of waiting for an answer, you lead him to the bathroom where you gently stripped off his shirt and tie in order to properly treat his wound.

As you did so, he slowly recalled the day's events to you, occasionally wincing as you dabbed antiseptic on the cut. It had been a hectic day so he didn't have much time to deal with the wound himself. Thankfully the small pocket knife that stabbed him missed the joint of his shoulder and was too small to dig too deep, but it would take time for torn muscles to heal fully. By the time you were done patching him up, he had finished telling you everything and held his head in his hands. "I killed him, I killed my partner..." he murmured, shaking his head, "..and they just let me go..."

A look of empathy crossed your features and slipped your arms around his torso, hugging him from behind. Your head rested on his non-injured shoulder in an attempt to comfort him. Rick returned your affection by leaning back and placing his arms over yours, thankful for your embrace. "You did what you thought was right, Rick. There's nothing wrong with that." You eased his troubles despite the sadness of your tone.

Rick gave your hand a light squeeze to reassure you and you eventually let go of him. "Do you want something to eat?" you offered, "I made some dinner for you." Rick shook his head and took your hand in his. "Let's just go to bed," he suggested with a small smile as he stood up. You wanted to protest but the look Rick gave you told you that he really just needed some rest. You hesitated before nodding in agreement, him taking your hand as the two of you headed to bed.

Rick cuddled up to you underneath the covers, more so than he usually did. You could feel him relax drastically in your embrace, an exasperated sigh escaping his throat. You tiled your head up to face him only to find him already looking at you. Worry was still evident in your features and you brought your hands up to cup his cheek. He could tell that you knew he was holding something back. After heaving a sigh of defeat, he placed one of his hands over yours. "I thought that the system could be fixed if I followed the rules like in my training..." he averted his gaze downwards, "but in the end, one more Morty died than necessary."

"Rick..." It broke your heart to see him this discouraged. Your thumb ran gently over his cheek and you pressed your forehead against his, both of you closing your eyes. Comfort was exchanged without words as his long arms wrapped around your torso and pulled you into an even more intimate closeness. You buried your head under his chin and in his chest as his fingers combed through your hair, the two of you falling to sleep comfortably for the night.

[ A/N: idk what the fuck this was or what it's meant to be but damn it all to hell I made it anyways >:C I'd call this the first ever fic with Cop Rick but if I'm wrong, send me the stories to other fics. I'd like to read them... >3> The timeline of episode 7 ( where Cop Rick was first introduced ) was a bit wonky, I wasn't sure what happened during the first day vs the second day so I just put the cop storyline as one day. Anyways, that's about it, I guess. Gonna go do my homework now. ]
