[Gurren Lagann] Simon x Reader: I'm Not Jealous

Start from the beginning

"Kamina! KAMINA!" She screamed, shaking him in hopes it would somehow wake him up. She felt the giant mech shift, possibly Simon shifting it to a sitting position. She heard footsteps against the metal. She hugged herself, crying hard. "I let this happen. I let Kamina die. Simon'll hate me forever. I know it. I just know it."

The hatch opened and, when she looked up, she saw a horrified Simon, staring right at Kamina's corpse.

Y/N choked on her tears and her legs shakily led her out, collapsing once she made it to solid ground. "I'm so sorry, it's all my fault, I'm so sorry, Simon, I tried to warn him, but-" She muttered so fast that it was near impossible to understand her. Simon fell to his knees and sobbed. "A-Aniki...y-you can't be dead. You..." He choked on tears. He got on his hands and screamed, cried, and broke down. Y/N would never forget that day. The day they both lost someone they loved so dearly.

-Time Skip-
Y/N remembered when Nia came, clear as day. She also remembered the day she realized Simon stopped hanging out with her and started hanging out with Nia.

One day, Y/N bumped into Yoko while walking around the ship. "Oh, hey Yoko." She said, a dead expression in her eyes. "Y/N? Is something wrong?" Yoko asked, worried.

"Actually...I don't know why, but every time I see Nia and Simon hanging out together, laughing and smiling, it makes me...angry." Y/N's mouth had began running on it's own, a habit she desperately wanted to stop. "Don't get me wrong, I like Nia, but, when I see her with Simon, it just...pisses me off." Y/N looked away from Yoko. "You're jealous." Y/N looked up. "What?"

"You're jealous of Nia." Yoko said again.

"What? I'm not jealous! Besides...I can see why he'd want to be with her instead of me. I'm horrible. I...I'm the reason Kamina died. He died because I didn't warn him sooner. I..." Yoko pat Y/N's shoulder. "Hey. It's nobody's fault that Kamina's dead. Least of all yours." She said. "Okay?" Y/N nodded, eyes glued to the floor. "Alright. See you later, Y/N!" With that, Yoko walked off. Y/N slammed her back against the wall, sliding down until she was sitting.

"Hey, Y/N." Simon greeted as he walked by, stopping in front of her. "Hey." She didn't say anything else. "Have you seen Nia? I wanted to hang out with her today." Y/N heart shattered. "No..." She spoke softly, her voice wavering. Simon didn't seem to pick up on the shakiness of her voice. "Oh...see you later then." He started walking away, but stopped when a sob escaped Y/N's mouth. He turned around and walked back to her, sitting on his knees on the ground. "Y/N, what's wrong?" He asked, concern evident in his voice.
"Oh, now you pay attention to me. I was starting to think you only cared about Nia." Y/N spat. Her voice was filled with anger and it was all directed at Simon. "What? I don't know what you're-"

"You don't know what I'm talking about?! Gee, that's a fucking surprise! Of course you'd completely ignore your best friend and give all your attention to someone you barely met!" Y/N yelled, standing now. Hot tears cascaded down her face. "Y/N, I-"

"Don't give me that bullshit! Don't you get it?! I've been trying for weeks to get your attention, but all you seem to care about is Nia!" Y/N was practically shouting at this point. "Y/N, please, I'm sorry, I-"

"Oh, now you're sorry! Now that I'm calling you out for completely fucking ignoring me, YOU FUCKING APOLOGIZE!" Y/N was fuming. Simon never thought he'd ever see her this angry. "Go to hell, Simon. Just go to hell and burn." Y/N knew that, deep down, she didn't mean that.

She ran off, leaving Simon alone in the halls. He fell so guilty for what he did to her. He didn't mean to hurt her like that. He thought she wouldn't mind. "W-Wait, Y/N! Come back!" Simon ran after her, hoping to catch up to her. Then the intercom came on. "Y/N, where the hell are you going?!" Kittan yelled. Simon rushed to the control room. "What the hell does it look like? I'm leaving." Y/N replied, voice full of venom. Simon came into to control room and shoved Kittan out of the way of the microphone. "Y/N, please don't leave!" He cried. "Go to hell, Simon! I hate you and I never want to see you again!" Y/N sounded even angrier than before. "Y/N, please, I'm sorry I ignored you, I'm sorry I made you cry, I'm sorry about everything, so please don't go!" Simon was on the verge of tears as he desperately tried to stop her. "I don't want your apologies! Go hang out with Nia! We all know how much you just adore her company!" Y/N spat. "Y/N, please!"

"You must be head-over-heals in love with her, huh?! I got it. Whatever."

"No, Y/N, it's not like that, I-"

"I can't believe I had a crush on you." Simon froze. "What..?" His voice was shaking and cracking. "Goodbye, Simon..."

Simon was beginning to tear up. He bolted out of the control room and ran as fast as he could to the deck, where he knew Y/N would be. Once she was in sight, he ran even faster. "Y/N!" He yelled, causing her to turn to him. He jumped at her and wrapped his arms around her tightly. "Simon, get the hell off me!" Simon didn't listen. He was crying hard, burying his face in the crook of her neck. "I'm so sorry, Y/N, I never meant to hurt you like this. I'm so sorry..." He sobbed, biting his lip." S-Simon..."

"Y/N, I love you!" Simon cried out. "I've loved you ever since we came to the surface, so please don't go! I don't want you to leave..." Simon's throat hurt so much, his heart was pounding, and his tears refused to stop. "You're probably just saying that..." Y/N said sadly. Simon looked up at Y/N's face, staring straight into her (e/c) eyes. "I'll prove I mean it, then." He replied sternly. He leaned in close and pressed his lips against hers, tears mixing into the kiss. He adjusted his body to deepen the kiss a bit and held her tighter than before. Once they parted, he looked her right in the eye and said, in the most sincere way possible, "I love you, Y/N. I mean it, from the bottom of my heart."

Y/N didn't know what to say. All she could do was stare into the eyes that she loved so much, watching tears run down her crush's face. She loved him, and he reciprocated those feelings. She knew he was telling the truth. Simon wasn't the type to lie about his feelings. Especially something as serious as this. "Simon, I..."

"I love you too, Simon." Then they kissed again, a kiss that was much more tender and loving than the first had been.
