Sangs POV
As I walked into the council chamber I realised that every council member was present.
I wondered to myself what could have happened to call the entire fae council to order.
The head councillor for the Summer Court stood and said "Now that the Princess is here we can begin. King Elden please come forward".
The King stood from his throne, he is a tall man with clear green eyes and long dark blue hair.
He walked towards the councillor and said, in a rather menacing tone " What exactly is this all about, why have I been called here?"
The councillor cleared his throat and answered his King "We have received some rather alarming news your Majesty, that you have been meeting with some rogue fairies in order to assassinate the Winter Queen Donella. How do you plead".
The whole chamber silenced, except for me, I gasped and covered my mouth with my hand.
Everybody turned to face me. I didn't know what to say, I could not believe what he was saying, surely my father couldn't be responsible for this.
I looked over at Queen Donella and found her smirking, I had never trusted her or her sister, who was currently my Stepmother. I always thought they were up to something. I bet this is a ploy to get my Stepmother in charge of the Summer Court. That way they'll be in charge of everything.
I was the only one who never believed her sob story about how Queen Donella kept her locked up in the dungeons because she was only a half sister and suddenly when my mother died she managed to escape to Summer as her mother was a Summer Fairy who was ensnared by the former Winter King.
Everything was leading up to this day.
My father looked incredulously at every one seated in the chamber and began laughing " The whole lot of you are idiots can't you see what's going on here".
The councillor interrupted the King and announced "We have enough evidence to execute you, but as we don't believe in capital punishment we are sentencing you to exile for 5 years. You will no longer serve as our King and as the princess is not old enough to rule your wife will take the throne until Princess Sang's 18th Birthday. Guards take him to the mirror chamber. Princess if you would like to follow me please. You may speak to your father before his exile begins."
I slowly stood from my chair and followed the councillor, trying to keep my emotions under control and failing miserably. With silent tears falling down my face I reached the mirror chamber and threw myself into my father's arms and sobbed into his chest.
"Sang, my daughter, there are things you must know before I leave. You must never speak your Stepmother's name as she is an Enchantress and can listen in on conversations where her name is spoken. Secondly always remember to put up your shields when she is around you as she can ensnare your mind to do her bidding, it's how she got me and its taken me a long time to realise that. Thirdly the prophecy in your favourite book is real and you are that princess, I know its a lot to take in, but remember that the Summer council know all the details. They know that I am not guilty, but they need Queen Donella and her half sister to believe that I am really gone. As the only way they are going to be caught, is when they make a move on you. The council have arranged 9 guardians for you. They will protect you no matter what. The councillor will take you straight from here to meet them. I have to warn you though Owen Blackbourne is one of your guardians"
I gasp when my father tells me Owen Blackbourne is one of my guardians, I haven't seen him in 18 months since the day of my 15th birthday.
Owen was my tutor since I was 11 years old, but I have known him my entire life. My father rescued him from the wild woods, when I was 5 and he was 10.
The wild woods are a place everyone fears, its full of rogue fairies who chose to be neither Winter or Summer and invariably they end up going mad and start killing people.
I grew up with Owen, loving him as a little sister would, the year I turned 9 he left to train as a guardian, returning 2 years later as my tutor. The year I turned 15 I realised that my love for Owen was not that of a sister, but something more. I told my best friend about it and 2 days later, on my 15th birthday, he disappeared without a trace.
I was heartbroken for weeks and didn't even leave my room. It took my father several months to learn the truth.
I turn to my father and say "Has Owen been forced to be my Guardian"
My father shook his head before replying "No he volunteered when he found out it was you"
"The other guardians, did they volunteer too" I asked "Yes Princess, all 5000 of my men volunteered to be your guardian, but I choose our 9 best guardians for you" the guardian master said as he walked into the room "and they are all anxiously waiting to meet you. If you would like to follow me, my princess, I would like to take you to meet them now" he extended his hand towards me and reluctantly, I took it as he led me away from my father.
