The sun was setting over Queens after the clock struck seven in the evening. My back was pressed up against Peter's chest, breathing in the view as he was holding me close by. His mask was in my lap as his chin rested on my shoulder, rocking me from side to side.

Sitting on the roof of a busy building in town was a bit of a risk, but somehow Peter and I were willing to make such an attempt. During times together like these, he would become so equipped and steady to grab him mask at any point and run off with me, keeping our affair a secret as best as he could.

I leaned back even more and look up at his face, only being able to see his cheeks. I chuckled as he looked down, pressing a kiss on my lips as a smile melted onto his face as well. Our hearts were both jumping from mile to mile until Peter broke the kiss, putting his mask on within a second.

"What happened?" I asked while he put my hood up.

"I heard a camera go off." He told me, getting up to look around. I followed after him, fiddling with the fabric of the sweater I was wearing.

"Keep your hood on, and make sure it's covering your face." said Peter, walking by me as he checked another corner of the building, peering down below to see if anything was going on.

"What happened Peter?" I asked again, getting shushed by him gently.

"Don't say my name too loud, okay?" He cooed, pulling me close. "I don't want you to be exposed in case any press is around."

I nodded my head, watching him lift up a small portion of his mask to reveal his mouth. He leaned into my hood and placed a kiss on my lips, pulling me closer. Our lips connected once more, my heart swooning as I felt his hands press against my back while I wrapped my arms around the back of his neck.

Just then, Peter snapped back with his mask fully on now, looking around the premise. "I heard it again."

"Let's just leave, Peter." I told him. "It's getting late."

He nodded and let me hop on his back, whisking us both away by his webs in a matter of seconds. We both went to sleep that night thinking that those noises were just nothing and it was just in our head, but little did we know, New York had a completely different story to tell.

The next morning I found myself making coffee with the television on in the background, having the local news station on from my mother before she had left for work. I was sat at the table just outside of the living room, eating a bowl of fruits and watching the city from the window, only for the peace to be interrupted more sooner than later.

"Local superhero Spider-Man caught on top of a building with a mistress just yesterday evening. Pictures were taken of them as it seemed as if the two were spending their own time together, with the hero lifting up his own mask to place a kiss on the mystery person." I heard the reporter say. My heart stopped as I saw the blurred pictures of Peter and I on the rooftop from just last night, almost breaking into pieces while seeing that my hood barely covered my face.

"Sources say that the hood was used to protect the person's identity. Seems like they're the perfect match." Sources?! Nobody knows that Peter is Spider - Man beside myself and his goldfish.

I turned the television off, going on my phone as an attempt to distract myself. It had only made it worse, seeing most notifications from news stations being about Spider - Man and his supposed 'mistress'. I turned off my phone, throwing it onto the couch as I looked up at the ceiling in frustrated, heart beating as fast as ever.

My head came back down, glancing over the room while trying to distract myself. My eyes landed on the pile of printed media spilled onto the coffee table right in front of the couch, catching onto the header of the Bugle.

I pulled the issue of the pile, only to be horrified once more. A picture of Peter- Spider - Man was holding me in his arms was plastered all over his magazine cover. His mask was fully on while my hoodie seemed to have almost slipped away in a matter of seconds. I then read the title on the cover, only to be baffled once more.

"SPIDER - MANS NEW MISTRESS? DAMSEL IN DISTRESS V. MYSTERIOUS GIRL." The headline read. I scoffed and threw the magazine back onto the coffee table, my embarrassment getting the best of me.

I sat there for a minute or so, before taking the newspaper with me and going down a few floors within the apartment building to meet Peter. I knocked on the door urgently, seeing May open up the door with a surprised look on her face.

"(Y/N)!" She chimed.

"It's so early in the morning, what's happened?" She opened the door, leaning against the frame.

"School project." I smiled, hoping she would buy my act. She happily let me into the small apartment, having me dash over to Peter's room with the newspaper being hidden as much as I could.

I knocked on his door a couple of times before I saw him emerge before me, the look of sleep still ridden on his face as his hair was a bit messier than usual. The dork's cheeks were as puffy as his blanket, eyes almost twinkling once he saw me.

"(Y/N)?" He mumbled, still half asleep.

I swiftly went through the crack of the door, showing him the magazine. "Look!" I exclaimed.

Peter took the magazine from my hands, becoming more awake by the minute. He took a good look at the cover before looking back at me, an expression of satisfaction showered on his face.

"Your face is covered, it's fine." He said.

"Fine?! It was on the NEWS Peter!" I exasperated, sitting on his bed. "This is everywhere. All of the news stations are talking about it, over half of my notifications are about us."

"Peter I can't risk this again, I can't do this." I mumbled, looking down at my feet. My heart was breaking and I didn't know what to do.

"Baby," Peter cooed, coming over, "it will be okay." He comforted, pressing a kiss onto my cheeks.

"I can't help but feel this way, Peter." I confessed to him, my head still laying low. "This is so overwhelming for me."

"Neither of our faces were shown to the public. Nobody knows who we are, and that means that you are safe from anything that the media and others cause." Peter explained, holding me close, "I'll find another place, somewhere more empty so this stops. Okay?"

"But what if something happens to one of us?" I asked, my eyes glancing at him for a quick second.

"Then I protect you, no matter the situation." Peter said in a heartbeat. "Okay?"

"Okay." I whispered, trusting him. Even though there was something completely off about this, Peter's words somehow made it all make sense. I felt a sense of comfort radiating off of him, settling my nerves down one by one. I felt his hand brush up against my chin, making me look up as he pressed a soft kiss on my lips, looking into my eyes right afterwards.

"I will keep you safe no matter what." He told me. "I won't let anything happen to you."

"C'mere baby." He whispered, taking me into his arms. Peter kissed my cheek as he held me peacefully, having a bright smile on his face as he saw my smile emerge as well. I held his face in my hands, quickly pressing a kiss on his lips, making his dorky nature come out once again.

"I still can't believe you're Spider - Man." I said.

"I still can't believe that you've stuck with me." Peter confessed, looking down at his hands. A warm smile appeared on my face as I admired his absolute dorkiness and how corny he was being, my heart beating just a little bit faster.

"Anything for my Avenger."
